The closest one to the route would be the Apache Gold Casino.
I've visited the dam (took Coolidge Dam Rd. all the way) and I didn't have a permit. Maybe I just got lucky.
They try and make this harder than it needs to be. Their website is very out of date. Apache Gold does not sell permits anymore. The closest I can find in the Circle K in Globe. $10.00 per person.

I am not sure I want see this or not but now that I know it's there I will

It appears a permit is not required on Coolidge Dam Rd though.

Quote:
No permit is needed for driving through on US 60, US 70, Road 800 to San Carlos, or Road 500 to Coolidge Dam.
We can check things out here since we planned on visiting San Carlos anyway.
Quote:
Visit our office near the corner of Moon Base Road and US 70 (between Mileposts 272 and 273), 1.5 miles east of the AZ 170 junction for San Carlos.

Hey fellas, I just joined here (this is my first post) and I'm from Mesa, so I guess I fall into this thread. I'm riding an sv650 right now until I get something more off road friendly, but for the time being I'm planning on romping it as hard as possible.

Another great day
Well it was another successful ride with a good time had by all (at least I hope). Well except the people that were in that nasty car wreck on the 177, hopefully they will all be OK.

Jay

Sorry to see you leave AZ but looking forward to a nice long trip in northern Cali. next year.

Julio,

We didn't try the route you had posted as we has a 2up Buell with us but we did take the dirt road to the Dam. I will have to try out your route next time as it looks pretty cool.

For anyone wanting to post a ride in the next couple of week while we are in Spain please do.

Thanks Bill for putting together another great ride. Have a safe trip back home Jay. I hope everyone else had a good time as well. Nice meeting Luke and Carla. Wade hope you a good ride home. See you all in a few weeks. Like Bill said I hope those involved in that head on wreck between dripping springs and the 70 are all well, that looked really bad.

Paul,

I almost forgot, thanks for letting me try the BMW. I think I am going to enjoy the G650GS very much.
