[edit] I guess everything is made by BILT nowadays at Cycle Gear.
Good to hear these things work, I've always filled the aerostich camel back bladder spot with ice and when I rode with different gear stuck the bladder in my leathers when really hot.

Been here a few years and was eitherr working from home or bikeless, recently got a 1200GS and going to see how long I can last commuting this summer.

Oh and whats a good glove for the heat?? I'm used to riding in Colorado and never needing warm weather gear.

Jeff from OHV Thank you very much for the response. I was fairly sure I had it correct and I had read through quite a few docs, but I kept hearing people tell me that I needed an OHV sticker on my V-strom and KLR650. I kept telling them they were wrong but started doubting myself after so many people warned me that I was going to be fined. I guess the trip from Mesa to 7 springs on the XR350 might have been pushing the limits of "I am going to a dirt trail nearby" but the cops really don't have to know that.
Thanks again, Paul

There's a fairly large registration fee savings if one elects to register under the auspices of an OHV vehicle / tag. I believe the fee is $25 for the OHV tag and a handling fee for the plate with the regular registration fee being waived.

The requirement to purchase an OHV Decal only applies to OHVs meeting both of the following criteria:

Designed by the manufacturer primarily for travel over unimproved terrain.

Has an unladen weight of eighteen hundred pounds or less.

In other words, if you have one of those spendy orange 450exc's and the licensing fee is in the hundreds for a plate, then you can claim it as an OHV vehicle, pay the OHV fee, waive the regular registration plate fee, and pay the handling fee.

This way you get the best of all worlds and support the OHV program.

You may want to have a look at the Tucson thread and straighten that guy out about the ohv program. He is spewing misinformation.

Ride tomorrow Saturday 6/1/2013 to Pinal Peak

If anyone would like to join us we can meet at the Chevron on Idaho just north of the 60 at 8:00am and take the 60 to Miami. Since we are not sure how long the new route will take we can play it by ear after we get to the peak. Time permitting we can go up to Young for a late lunch or if it is getting late there is always Mexican food in Superior.

Wade,

If you would like to go we can figure out a seperate meeting point that will be more on your way, maybe somewhere in Miami.

Anyone wanting to join us is more than welcome, See everyone Saturday.

Bill
Just wanted to bring this to the front.

Is this happening?

Yep, that's the one, but as you can see, he doesn't even believe you. He's a hard one to convince. I say just let him live in his world!

As I read it and was warned, needed a sticker for my XR650L.
Is that a yes or no for sticker requirement?
It is registered for on highway.

Also, anybody ever ride Dugas Rd over the Verde Rim down to the river?
Did this two weeks ago. Think it is the roughest road Ive ever riden, anywhere. Over the rim very steep drop, loose rocks big and small, sharp and round, never ending, and the river crossing is out. Back up you go!

If you havent, its a great ride, views of Verde into the wild and scenic, and nobody else on the road.

If you don't learn how to do this with a lot of people you'll go crazy.

Canyonland, XR650L the air cooled electric starter Honda is a Highway vehicle and originally registered for Highway use therefore all you need is a regular plate and no OHV sticker as per the reg. The XR650R water cooled kick starter Honda is a dirt bike and would need an OHV sticker.

This is SO confusing I just went to D.M.V. and got both stickers. I also grabbed an AZ freedom and Fallen officers tag. One F.O.P. Badge Two P.A.L. stickers and an ADV decal. I also purchased both Geico And progressive Insurance.
Hey Bill are we riding tomorrow where can we meet in Miami. I haven't had the 2 fitie out for a 300 mile run since Monday. Wade.
