Remember when 4 stroke motorcycles became popular because they get better fuel economy and pollute less. Well, if you haven't heard a guy in India has successfully patented the 6 stroke and claims that the jump in fuel economy and reduction in hydrocarbon emissions is nearly as significant from 4 to 6 stroke as it was 2 to 4 stroke. I thought it was interesting. Here is an animation of the way the concept works.

I am wondering if they add more valves and water/alcohol injection if they cant really reduce HCs and increase fuel economy... just a thought. Oh, this was interesting too!

I think the death of the 2 stroke had more to do with companies pushing 4 stroke engines than any real pollution problems. They could make 2 stroke engines pretty efficient. But that's a whole nother rant.

Speaking of CO...any KTM types headed to the Rally in Steamboat?
I got my Butler COBDR map & DVD today and plan to follow that route.
I have penciled in 9/7 as a departure...taking the week off coming home by 9/16...or something like that....any and all welcome to join me.

Nice ride Julio.

15 pages of replies to get you a masterlink. Not bad.

Riding this Saturday

The day is steadily approaching. My friend and I plan to ride to sheep's bridge by going up cave creek road to 7 spings. After we get to the river, depending on the heat, we might turn up bloody basin to the 17. If it is super hot we wil backtrack back down 7 springs.

Temps are supposed to reach 117, so we plan to start at 4:30 in the morning and then soak or vests in the river.

Pictures soon to come.

Refokus & I were talking about doing sheeps bridge loop Sat. morning as well. From Memory it's about 80 miles from the Wildcat staging area & back. Once you get to Sheep's bridge, cross it. The downhill on the other side is not that bad (you can walk it down if you like), and the road from there to Horshoe dam is a hoot. Crossing under the spillway is unique, then blast back out to Bartlet dam road.

Thanks for the advice. Is the spillway at horshoe dam not blocked off? That road looks like it would be gated.

I am a total early bird. I would rather watch the sunrise at 90 degrees than watch the sunset at 115.

I like the mornings as well, especially in the summer time. The spillway is accessible to cross under the dam. Tight fit but not that tight.

Horeshoe Lake Spillway

Crossing the spillway - with a Bike?? Small walkway under the damm not sure you can make the 90 degree turns with a bike??

All that said if you go up Horseshoe Lake Rd - couple miles before you get to the Dam you can cross the Verde river - 2 crossing on shallow with lots of rocks, 2nd one is shorter but deeper. I have done it with a Honda XR250, Quads, Pickup truck. Nice ride to sheep's Bridge from there. Checkout the Hot spring under the bridge.

Otherwise the 7 Springs route is very nice ride but a lot longer enjoy and get out there early as planned!!!!

Anyone have use for a Dunlop Geomax 51, 110/100 18, with 3 rides on it? It still has plenty of life. I just prefer trials tires on the rear.

Also have an aluminum 6 ft long, 6 inch wide dirtbike ramp.

Gotta get the garage clutter under control. Both free to a good home.
