Casey if you decide to get a Weestrom (650) instead of a Vstrom, I have one in my garage with about 11k miles on it all farkled out. I bought the wee because of the nearly 15 mpg better and lower vibration issues. I am likely going to sell it only because I just don't want to beat the crap out of such a nice bike. The KLR seems to fit the offroad thrashing that my friends enjoy riding more than the wee. In any case good luck with the clutch. -Paul
Hey Paul, how much are you selling the Wee for?

Bringing a water filter

For those meeting at Wildcat for tomorrows ride:

Reading the Nightstalker ride report a few pages back it looks like there is some water on the route (at least in the spring when they did that report, March I think). From reading the earlier suggestions about being able to dip in the river to cool down I am assuming that there will still be water around (someone correct me if I'm wrong!)

With that in mind,

I'm going to bring my Katadyn water filter with me tomorrow for everyone to use. I'm a huge water drinker, especially when I'm riding and with the high temps it's going to be even more important. I have more than enough space in my side bag for it. It works EXTREMELY well and I have hiked, camped, fished etc with it for years.

I just wanted you all to know that there will be the option to refill your hydration systems on the trail so that you could plan accordingly. I will also have purification tablets with me for anyone wanting to be extra extra extra extra EXTRA sure that the water is safe to drink. I've never felt the need to use them after the Katadyn, but if it breaks........

See you guys tomorrow!

Brad I have about $4500 in it so I figure breaking even would be awesome. I didn't know you sold the Tiger.

Bring anything you like, but we're going to be riding, not camping anywhere. The only water I'd count on is what you bring & in the Verde river at Sheeps Bridge to soak your clothing & off we go.

Just to be clear, tomorrow's temps are nothing to fool with, we will all have to be moving ~30mph average to make it back to the trucks before we melt.

Hey 4play my Jeep patriot is only 2 wheel drive but I can make it 2/3 of the way to Sheep's Bridge and of course to the dam. Ricardo has my number. You guys have a 4 wheel drive you are driving there? I am just thinking if you guys have any mechanical probs you are going to want to leave pretty quick and not hang out. I will be doing work on my house but in an emergency give me a ring and I'll be there soon as possible. -Paul
