Punky, Lew & Achi 2 continue Americas Motopaseo

Hi everyone: We're gonna do it again! My Yorkie, Punky, is out to maintain his claim to fame as the motorcycle ridingest dog in the world. I will again be his throttle twisting chauffer. The lovely senorita, Achi, whom I met and married in Peru will be pillion. The tour will be Achi's introduction to the wonders of my continent. We'll tent camp in many national parks. This time we're riding a new DL650 V-Strom to Panama and touring Central and North Americas commencing Feb. 2005. I've set up a new yahoo group for those interested in following our adventures and communicating with us. The URL of the new group is:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Punky_n_Lew_n_Achi_2/

I've been busy planning and preparing for the new tour. Our new DL650 V-Strom, Critter II, is equipped for adventure and ready to go. Pix can be seen in the new group's Photos section. Later, amigos.

Lew,

Are you going to hit any of the HU Events on this trip? I enjoyed your presentation in Stecoah, NC last summer.

Have a great ride, and give a pat on the head for Punky.

A Yahoo list is OK but you might get more response and viewings if you just
post your ride reports in the ride report section here on ADVrider along with
what ever photos you take.

The Viking has been doing this eight months running and has something like
50,000 viewings.

Just a thought,
Que le via bien.

Well here's a name from the past. Good to see you and Punky are still kickin' it around, Lew! Last I heard of you was the KLR mailing list years ago.

Enjoy the ride and company!

Actually make that 146,000 viewings, 700 plus replies and 74 pages worth of
ride report. Must be at least a hundred book sales in there somewhere

I currently own "Critter II" and am so happy to have found this thread and further posts by "Punkynlew"

50k Mi on her and still going strong. Valves adjusted last week and all within spec. I'm taking care of her and racking up the miles]

Do you have any idea what ever became of Lew? Don't know of anyone that has heard anything about him in years.

Didn't he find love in South or Central America and settle down?

Last update to Lew's site was in May 2003, when Achi had just got her first job in the U.S.

Hard to believe it was 2001 when Punky and Lew showed up at the Canyonlands Motor Classic in Moab. Time flies...

Just found where Lew had set up a Yahoo group. Looks like that is where the activity was posted after his original Motor Mark website.

Lew's last update from March of this year.

"Punky is 15.5 years old now and doing OK. His sight and hearing is
not so good, though. He has the company of two other dogs now, one another
Yorkie and the other a fiesty little white Maltese, which belong to my roomie.

We're not riding much anymore. Punky has given up long distance riding and Lew
is still hoping to regain the ability to ride long distance following heart
surgery.

In June, Lew will be driving us cross county in his new Town and Country minivan
(removed the rear seats and built a comfy bed) to Seattle to pick up a Liesure
Lite Excel pop-up tent camping trailer to tow behind our '08 Kawasaki Concours
1400.

The Connie is free of secondary butterflies and has BMC air filter, PCIII, ZX14
header, dual free flow shorty slashcut exhaust and is dyno tuned to be wickedly
fast.

This summer, we intend to drive on four wheels camping along the way to the U.S.
states we haven't motored to together. Punky has traveled with Lew by jet plane
(Panama City-Bogota/Rio de Janeiro-Miami), train and bus (to Machu Pichu),
automobile, boat (ferry across the Strait of Magellan) and motorcycle to the
ends of the world in N/S Americas. Later, amigo. Lew"
