Question 690 Enduro and 500exc/570fe weight comparison

So I'm considering getting either a 690 enduro or something lighter like a fe570 or maybe a 500 exc and I'm wondering about the 27.5 kg weight difference.

What am I getting for those 27.5 kgs on the 690, obviously a more powerful engine but what else?

Longer maintenance intervals. More road oriented geometry. Other than that. Nada
they don't make 'em like they used to. which is a good thing really

FE570 is a race bike, 690E is a road/Off Road bike.
Even if they look much alike, they are different.

I have had both, make up your mind on what kind of riding you will do and choose bike accordingly.

The 500 EXC has a considerably wider spread of gear ratios vs. the transmission in the 690.

I have the 690 benefits as stated above. It can be ridden anywhere the 500s can be but perhaps not as fast if you are approaching the limits. That said unless you are a skilled rider you won't hit the limits of either bike. The 500s have better suspension, lighter and will be much easier at speed in the technical stuff. You'll feel like a better rider in the technical stuff because of it.

Anything that involves road work, going to and from work, dual sport travelling etc and the 690 will be more competent while not giving up much to the 500s (for the average riders - myself included - who are weekend warriors that is)

I've run a few rallies with the 690, no issues, mud, rock, sand, up or down boulder strewn hills, it's just performs and if water is a concern it will cross deeper water than a 500 without coming close to drowning.

Need to decide what your riding will look like and where you are willing to compromise a bit.
