Thanks

Received the files, appreciate all the info., esp. the Garmin specs. I am a GPS noob and didn't have a clue what unit to buy. Hope to bite off a chunk of the BRT this spring or summer.

Question GPS recommendation

Sorry for the basic question but is there a consensus on what the best GPS is to handle these files? I am new to GPS, especially regarding loading tracks and routes, and have little experience other than just following directions on the GPS. I have a Garmin Zumo for my road bike that i think wouldn't work well for these offroad routes. Is there a better Garmin unit for dirt bikes that would make it easier to load, view and use these files?

Thanks,

BD

If you have a smart phone, look into "orux maps", you might have to do some research, but they do work even offline.

I like using MotionX for iphone. It only runs on iThings

It allows you to mail yourself the files and opens them up on the map. you can choose one of about 10 map types, even display your own. you can also download the area you're interested in so loss of data signal is less of an issue.

l also use it to record my own tracks and upload my position to their mapping software, should anyone need to know where i am. Obviously this last item requires data.

here's the product: http://gps.motionx.com/
