Congrats from here as well. I am new to this with many paved miles. Can anyone that has done the trails suggest some tracks for a dirt rookie? I am looking at coming up from NC and doing a couple of days and don't want to get over my head in the first hour. Thanks.

other than a few spicier secions, the TET from Alabama north is a very doable ride, with many miles of dirt and gravel to get your sea legs...
I have ridden this from Alabama to Maine... there is a thread in the laying down tracks describing this route. the BRT shares some roads with the TET...
I found the BRT to be more challenging/ exciting. both are 5 star adventures!!!

TET thread

Wtiger
could you please post a link, or be more specific on the thread you mentioned for the TET in "Laying down tracks".
I'm particularly interested in the NC, TN sections
Thanks,
Bob

Thats alot of ground to cover, can you be more specific?
I camp where I stop. Although it can be frustrating at times, finding a good campsite is part of the adventure for me. It makes discovering that rare "perfect" spot more rewarding. Every once in a while I'll stop earlier than planned to spend the night somewhere perfect.

Interactive map?

Seems like there used to be an interactive map of this trail? Does anyone know what page it might be on?

Go to post 814 and play around with your mouse. Zoom in and out or NSEW and all the campgrounds and gas stops are on it. Just click the tent or gaspump icon for the info.

In the top right corner you can change the way the map looks and other stuff.

It's computer magic to me. I'm just glad someone knows how to post that kind of info. BIG thanks to Error Cooled for doing this.

I'm gonna try to do some of it this year.
