Hate that I missed this one, but I had a good excuse... Was up in Ohio picking up a KDX200. Glad to hear it was a fun and safe lunch!

Gimpy: Yes, but the only two airfields I could find in Carthage were both private. Any ideas?

Edit: Oh, now I see that the Pik n Pig is located at the Gilliam-McConnell private airport. I guess coming in for food, clears you to land!

I don't get the "28th" though. What month is that? My calendar says the 28th is a Monday, this month.

As much as I surf this site I can not believe I missed this thread. I live in Bluffton and ride every several days along the SC/GA border and passed thru Ridgeland yesterday, passed the Murray gas station/grocery store on the way home. I will make the effort to attend the 1st Saturday lunches.
Shameless link to one of my trips in the area:

Hope to meet some of you soon.

Looks like I won't be able to make the Pik n Pig this weekend. I bought a new bike which I'm hoping will help me nearly keep up with Laura off road now! Found a 2012 690 R in Alpharetta, just north of Atlanta. Might run up Friday/Saturday and pick it up. Sorry, I can't fly in to lunch but this is pretty exciting, for me at least!

Awesome, this is was the other bike I was seriously considering when I swapped out my KLR for the F800GS. I'm jealous!

690R

I had the hots for a minute for a small ernge 2T with a Rekluse after my last attempt at tight single track with my baby Zuk. But then I paid property taxes on both Zuks today and was grinning when writing the check, so I think that minute has passed.

Someone needs to pick a place for the Feb 2nd lunch.

My vote for the March 2nd lunch would be the Hartsville area. Do you Florence guys know of a good restaurant there? The Sandblast Rally is a whole month later this year, and will be on March 2nd. Trulucks in Timmonsville was good when we had the lunch there last February, but it's farther away from the Rally.

Speaking of Sandblast, that would be fun on a 690, no?

I've been looking for a mid-weight adventure bike and had narrowed the search down to the BMW 800, the BMW X-Challenge, and the 690 R. X-Challenges weren't built after 2009 as I understand it and I couldn't find a used one in the region (Colebatch really likes them though, he's currently riding a heavily modified one on the Road of Bones) and I finally decided that the 800 as a bit too street and heavy (100 + lbs more than the 690 R) for what I have in mind...soooooo, I've been looking for a 690R. The 2013's aren't out yet, and the 2012's all appeared to be sold in this region (none in SC, none in FL) but I got lucky and found this one in Alpharetta.

And yes, my KLR-650 is for sale. A collegue of mine in our Washington office has asked about it several times over the years and so I let him know about it this morning. He says he's interested, but if he changes his mind, I'll let you guys know. It's an older bike but with low miles and fresh running gear (chain, sprockets, tires, battery...). My Duke is available also. I LOVE that bike so I'll be asking $25,000 for it. That way I can tell my wife I have no idea why it isn't selling !!! Ha! If you're really interested, let me know: It's a 2001 with around 4,000 miles on it---some of them actually not leaned all that far over! Kelly Blue Book is $3,120.

Please forgive the hijack, normal programming is resumed. If anyone has an interest in either of these bikes, just PM me.
