Hey Jax,

Checked out a map of Michaux that said no motorcycles allowed on the trails. Are these pics from all gravel roads open to any vehicle traffic? My buddy and I, both from B'more, am trying to figure out a December Saturday ride for our GSA's. Wanna be our point man?

There are lots of legal gravel (sometimes less than gravel) roads in Michaux. Pretty much as long as you don't have to go around a gate, and it resembles a road, you are good to go.

Sweeeet. Thanks for the info. Definitely have to check that park out now. Baltimore sucks for anything resembling gravel.

Do a search for Michaux, maybe in regionals, you'll get some hits. Lots of riding there.

Also check out the DAMN riders, a lot of those guys are from B-more, Fredrick areas. There are routes, etc there.

I grew up in Buchanan Valley, you locals know where that is

Michaux is my backyard.

Word to the wise, deer rifle season starts tomorrow, ride on Sundays.

Drove through the Buchanan Valley yesterday :) getting home from tgiving family stuff. A beautiful area to live!
I should have known better than to try to go riding the first Saturday of December in PA..... This state gives school children off school the Monday after thanksgiving because it's the first day of rifle deer hunting. There are thousands of folks in the woods with rifles.... some of whom are going to shoot at ANYTHING that moves.

No hunting on Sunday?.... Probably lots of folks in the woods anyway.

+1 DAMN is a great resource for fun in the dirt, gravel, mud and sand.

This is where I turned around. It got to the point that I had to ride in the drainage ditch to stay off the ice and my friends had 90/10 tires on. I figured that wouldn't be pretty so I decided to punt.

I had thought there might be ice, but decided to go for it anyway. As we got into PA from the south, I started to notice ice and snow in the shady areas. This is when I cautioned my buds that we may have to turn around because of ice. Just as we entered the gravel it looked pretty good! Lets rock.

Thanks for coming along Mick!
I had no plan in case of denial.,.. and we were most certainly denied.

All we knew is that it was almost 70 degrees and we were gonna do some riding.

We headed south back into MD for some twisty road fun.

First stop High Rock in the Catoctin mountains.
Where we came upon Holden. Here is where karma is funny and cool.
Dozer1 had, less than 24 hours before, bought those leather pants from Holden some 60 miles from high rock. this is Dozer saying I can't believe this shizz...
Look at this guy...

Holden has a sweet 990 SM that we all drooled over... sorry no pic of that.
He joined us for the next couple of hours. Nice to meet you.

Nothing more pathetic than clean shiny motorcycle boots... AH there that's better:

JaxObsessed, I still need to lay out the Michaux part of the Trans PA Trail. So far our track stops around 50 miles north of Michaux. Spring is coming! I need to start working on this again. (once I get that computer running again).

Do you have any tracks I can use for guidance? TopoUSA data is OK, I also run a PN40.

Man, that looks like a great time. I read this then headed up there Sunday with my son and the jeep. I had never been there before. most of the ice had melted(until last night that is). I can't wait to try it this weekend with the bike!!!!!!!!!!
