Let's just say the seat re-cover and tank repaint look good at 10+ feet and leave it at that.

But, all the electrical and mechanical stuff is rock solid. Which makes the bike a lot like me: a little ugly but in really good shape for the years and miles on the chasis.

Looks like really nice riding weather this weekend. I plan to get out for a few hours to take advantage of the beautiful weather after the less than stellar winter riding around here. You should ride your XR650L if we go out. Just in case you are still interested in selling it I may still be interested in buying it.

Sadly, my TW has started leaking oil at a worse than acceptable rate and I have yet to pinpoint the source of the leak. That doesn't stop me from riding it (for right now), but it's something I need to get to now that the Hawk is back on the road. I plan to degrease the engine Saturday morning then cover the entire thing in a fine mist of oil and talcum powder to find where she is bleeding. I hope it is a simple seal since I really don't need another restoration project right now. And I REALLY don't think my wife likes wants me to have one either.

I want less wrenchin' time and more ridin' time while the weather is this nice.

I use Weatherbug.com, and its forecast has me preparing to head out for a ride right now!

Today:Tomorrow:Saturday:Sunday:

I'm optimistic for Sunday!

Both Accuweather and the National Weather Service are calling for the rain to stop Friday overnight and for partly sunny weather both days this weekend with highs in the upper sixities to low seventies. This is the Shippensburg forecast. Should be the same for Carlisle.

The commercial weather forecasting companies have a tendency to overestimate precipitation and will even admit to it. Their reasoning is if they predict rain and the weather is nice, everyone is pleasantly surprised. If they predict no rain, and it rains, people are angry at the weather forecaster. So they predict rain more frequently then their own computer models tell them they should. I am counting on this being the case for the weekend.

Looks sweet!

Geez, if it's not tires and oil, it's the weather forecast!

Ridge Road begins at PA34; Waynesboro, here I come!

They're just starting to lay gravel on Ridge Road beginning west of PA233. PITA, but not too deep and the edges are clear.

Fred

PS. But just east of Michaux Road there's a pile of soft fresh stuff.

I hate when they lay the fresh gravel. Deep and uncompacted is the only way they know how to put it down.

I passed the truck they're using, and it's not at all what I expected. It's a very small dump truck with low sides. It'll take a lot of trips to the quarry!

I just crossed Shippensburg Road and now Ridge is old packed dirt with ruts in spots, real nice smooth packed gravel in others:

Onwards....

Oh the number of times I have been sorely tempted to ride around that gate... sigh.

Someone must have the master key!

Here's Besecker Gap Road:

But look! Forest Road is wide open.

If I saw an open gate in Michaux that is normally locked, I would ride that road.

Good advice. Forest Road led to some active logging, then another gate that looks older than all the rest you see. A gate behind a gate - but that one is open too, and leads to a nice surprise!

The road is grass and pine needles, so this treasure on Snowy Mountain must be closed off most of the year.

No rattlesnakes on Rattlesnake Run. Though it's a bit early for them.

Teaberry Road, where they set the gate back from the crossroad, so you ride in to a locked gate. FYYFF!

You always stop to read these, don't you?

Awesome Guys!

Yes TP that one is gated and closed most of the year. Just open for special occasions.

SoPaRider, Skyclad and I found it open a while ago.
