Wilcat, Dugas, GWT, Sheeps Bridge, Horseshoe Dam

4play, Big-E, DOD, Dillon_Bernies, Dave, Crashdbad, his neighbor & his dad met up at the Wildcat staging area for a 139 mile loop. We picked up a new victim Utefan, when he innocently asked for directions. We headed up 7 springs to Bloody Basin, to I-17 & north to Cordes to pick up 3 more riders Jeff Zee, Rattlecan & AZcagiva. Just as we got there a KTM690 slides up to a stop, It's Johnny_5! She was running late & had run us down all the way from Wildcat. Crashdbad's neighbor & father where heading up to CK to do some camping so it was -2 +4. Utefan's new to him XRR had some muffler retention issues that were "engineered" while we topped off our tanks.
We blast up I-17 to Dugas & out to the GWT (which was rockier than I've ever seen it) navigated our way through the creek crossings which looked nothing like it did last year, the rains have really changed the trail. At one of the many gate crossings the XRR's muffler was really an issue, after several creative attempt to secure it, they gave up & removed it (that relegated Utefan to "Sweep" position). XRR's with the full tilt HRC kit are kinda loud uncapped. We continued on to back to Bloody Basin,Utefan split off at 7 springs to go repair his XRR. The rest of us continued on to Sheep's bridge an down to the river. Rattlecan, AZcagiva & Jeff Zee decided it would be best for them to return via BB & decided to climb back up the hill to the bridge. They made a valliant run at the hill, but the hill is pretty ragged right now with a few step ups & ill placed rocks & that require a little help to reach the top. What was left of us contued to Deadman's wash wihich is still pretty torn up with LARGE rocks. The 4wd guys have beaten a path that is not too bad that winds east ~50yrds & across & back up to the trail. Big-E (AKA Mongo) decided that route was for wimps & Bull dogged his mighty WR450F straight across the gnarly rocks which somehow became my fault
We crossed Horseshoe dam & blasted back to Wildcat. 139 miles total, great people, great riding, great day!

I was/am, recovering now and starting to feel better. I would not have had the energy to fight the rocks on this ride, but I will be ready next time.

It was a bright orange kind of day and the Large one was posing as usual;
A dozen riders headed off for a rocky 100 mile ride.

As the first half waited for the second half, we were starting to worry the rock hill climb had taken a victim.

It seemed the rock hill climb was a bit much for Utefan's 650r. Thank you Utefan for the 30 minute break!

I know, I didn't get a picture of the rock hill climb, so it really didn't happen.
I guess we'll have to send Nightstalker out there to photograph it's true badness.

My last pic of CrashDbad taking his 950SE down the hill at Sheeps Bridge.

Well, that will have to hold you over till the others get their pictures up.
Another great ride with great people. I was even spanked by the famous Johnny 5, (Queen of the West). I'm not the first guy to eat her dust.

Thumb

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the ride and sorry for slowing everyone down with my muffler issues, and for putting up with the noise once the silencer was pulled off. It was great meeting all of you and a fantastic ride. It was a great introduction to riding in Arizona. I wish I could have finished the ride with you over Sheep Creek Bridge. Again, thanks and what a fantastic time I'm looking forward to riding again with everyone. I wish I could remember everyone's names, but Thank you 4Play, Big E, CrashdBad, Dillion, Johnny 5

I was the guy on the other honda. Nice to meet you. It is kinda funny, on a ride with mostly KTMs the only bike to have problems would be a honda.

I wondered if you were on this board. I was thinking the same thing. The reason I bought a Honda was to not have that happen. Thanks again for your help I felt sorry for you riding behind me without the silencer - sorry about the noise. Hope to see you soon - Thanks again.

Yea, and I never did get fed! I was a starvin' marvin when I got home!!

And the bolder patch was and is your fault Mister! As the ride leader, it is your job to make sure Mongo does not burn too many calories when it has been over 4 hours since the last feeding!!

Hey Bob, where's the pictures of the bike molesting?? I know that you have them, cough them up or should I say boom-chick-a-bow-bow??

Great ride! Thanks everyone, see you ALL on the Coke Oven ride or sooner!!
