I think you have a point bouboule.

I have an Euro 06, comparable to US 07:s. Why would the map for 11 work good for us? Our engines don´t have the same mechanical specifications as 09-11.

I am pretty sure the cams are quite different. From 09 the standard bikes have the same engines as the R models, except mapping. That is why 09-11 can produce the same horsepower as an R by utilizing the R-map, which has no restrictions in the top end of it´s secondary throttle map.

That is what I think I have learned from following this thread from the start.

Tuned!

Hi,
I've been following this thread since a while in hope to find the magic bullet to more power, more torque and less fuel consumption. After changing from stock to FMF pipes and Akra mapping fuel economy went down from 6.5 lt/100km to 8 lt/100km( 37 mpg to 29 mpg). The ride got much smoother though.
Yesterday I had a session with the local Dyno guru and TuneECU. Very insightful. The bike was:
a tad lean at idle, very lean at mid range revs(3k-6k) and very rich at high revs(6k-9k). The most change was needed at high revs, -10%. Here's the graph:

In my opinion there's no other way to max performance and economy than to put the bike on a dyno with someone who knows how to tune a EFI bike. Unfortunately the bike went from the dyno straight into a crate to get shipped to SF/USA to start my way down south to the tip of SA.

Ciao, Helly

In that case why do the secondaries have any effect?
Isn't the issue that even though you have twisted the grip closed, the ECU is actually in control of the primary and secondary butterflies?

Update on the Power-tripp Akra Map:

Highway cruising/ spirited twisties, about evenly split: 36.4 mpg.
Disclaimer-it's a small sample, not a ton of miles...

I'm not terribly surprised by this; I'm running Q4s rather than the Akras, and 16/45 gearing...

Still really happy with the map, driveability-wise. I'm tempted to knock down some of the fueling slightly to accommodate the more-restrictive exhaust, but it just runs so well that I'm sure not gonna do it before my 1200 mile trip next weekend.

Dirt was more interesting; fireroads to moderately technical running, 24.3 mpg. Not sure this one is real; that's a really big difference. Jury's still out, and don't let this result keep you from trying the map--like I said, I'm not sure I didn't do something wrong on this one-tank sample...

Steve

A question for you.

Yours is a '08 model. You bought it used? Since you seem to have the most troubles in here, I wander what CDI you are wearing on your bike. There have been some changes through the years. Could be you have a less efficient one? I was told they upgraded to a quicker unit, collecting more samples from the sensors. So what #part number is your bike's unit? Better read it on your CDI and not on your part's catalog. Cheers.

Yes, I'm the second proprietary. I think that the problem about I'm talking is the cause of an bad ecu mapping...

That are data which are note on the unit:

630E-1941-0B02

7Z11-326618

I think that is the KTM reference: 610.41.031.001

What d you think about this?

I've got a small problem...

I got my cable, loaded the programs, downloaded a couple of maps and plugged it in and it all worked as advertised.

Thanks Tom and Alain.

Ran diagnostics and found out my tps is way off at .73 with 0 throttle. Gotta fix this this weekend first before trying any new maps.

It appears I have the 06 Akra map for my 08 with dual FMFs. Snatchy as all get out. So I want to try the newer Akra map and the stock map to see if that helps.

My problem is that though I downloaded the maps I want to try, opened them with tuneecu and extracted them, but I can't find them when tuneecu is opened. They don't appear to be in the program. What did I do wrong?

I see this item was superceded by 610.41.031.200 so I wonder if there was a good reason for that.
Cheers.

Start Tuneecu.exe then click File -> Open File Map and browse to the map you want to see in Tuneecu.exe

Thanks dotbond, I just couldn't seem to get there. That said, I'm not 100% sure it's actually in tuneecu ready to flash the ecu. I'll find out tomorrow...

Just wanted to note, my bike is way smoother running with CJ racer sparkarrestor/silencer in akros and filter skin for some reason. Akro map still.

It definatly has more power with out, but it still has way more than you need.

35-40 offroad and 40-45 pavement.

It dropped below 35 I think on the rubicon trail though...
