You really sound like you're describing the Tiger more than the CrossTourer, which is just a GoldWing that looks more manly. Sort of.

A GoldWing I thought it was a V4 engine and narrow, not a flat 6 with the width of a Clydesdale.

the thing that kills me about these monster adventure bikes... they are too big to go offroad for most people, yet the wind flow/control is never free of buffeting on the highway...

Solved: the XL1000V Varadero with MRA Vario screen. Even with my 6,8ft.

Believe me... there is no 2nd bigtrailbike which offers better all-weather protection.

I find that as well. At 6'4", I find my Varadero offers excellent weather protection.

In addition towards 'buffering on highways':

I use the bike a lot on German- and Dutch motorways. In the Netherlands Vmax -> 120 km/h; in Germany up to 180-200 km/h and it is so much fun to follow any sportsbike rider fully tucked away behind his tiny screen whillst on the Varadero you can still sit straight up and smoke a sigar in all comfort...

I guess the new CT will do just as good.

Santa's coming!

I felt a little cheeky before Christmas so wrote the following to Honda:

"Dear Santa,

I have been a good boy this year and would like a Honda Crosstourer."

I also mentioned that I ride a CBR1100XX. They soon replied back with the following:

"Dear Carl,

Thanks for your email, and yes we know you have been a good boy!

Unfortunately, the Honda Elves have been working very hard this year and didn't manage to make all of the fantastic models that we wanted too. (We'll hire more Elves next year)

If you continue to be a good boy and look after your CBR1100XMAS, Santa might be able to get you one for Christmas next year.

We hope you have a fantastic Christmas and New Year.

Ride Safe."

Fingers crossed!

That's great.

A company sending out a real email, with a sense of humour to boot.

Are you sure this really happened Carl?

It's no joke mate! I couldn't believe they actually replied, and within about a day or two. And I cracked up! I left the rest out just in case I got the guy in trouble for telling me this. The rest read:

"Kind regards

*name*
Manager - ***
Honda ***
North Pole Division"

I can't wait till Christmas!!! Only 351 sleeps to go.

Best wishes...!

I don't believe in the fake Coca-Cola derivate you call "Santa".

I do believe in the Dutch original Sinterklaas (Saint Nikolas) and made a similar request.

The answer was - surprisingly - exactly the same...

CT live soon...

CT will be on display at the coming Utrecht International Motorcycle exhibition in The Netherlands - starting on February 24th till Feb. 27th.

Hopefully on 'display' allowing me to sit on it and make a proper picture how the bike shows with my 6,8 ft towering from it...

I can't wait!

Lucky you Bernard! Do tell us all about it and post some pics. I'd say you'd be lucky if they let you touch it, fingers crossed. Enjoy. :-)

I'll keep you guys 'n girls posted - we will be at the exhibition for 2 days (February 25th till 26th) so expect pictures around Saturnday 26th late (CET) or Sunday, February 27th.

Unfortunately it's still an prototype - no riding yet... But all good things come to those who wait.

Will also be looking at Triumphs new Tiger 800XC. But I would love a bigtrail bike with shaft ride - No Beemer cause every one has one already and no Guzzi Stelvio because it's tiny...
