I would think, given that these guys have been doing this shit for the best part of their lives, including post race yarns with their fellow riders, and crew, (and these days, mega 'electronic évidence' !!). Is it 'whining', or just answering a question? I mean, ya can't win EVERY time out. Shit happens, and at this level, it don't take much shit to put you down the back....

A few years back, I was racing vintage bikes up at Mosport. Had one helluva race, me and one other rider dicing back and forth for the whole race, the lead changing hands multiple times a lap. I showed my hand too early and drafted past on the back straight before the white flag. I couldn't pull a gap big enough, and he drafted past me for the win on the last lap. I was so pissed I hurt my hand punching the gas tank after crossing the line.

The other rider came over to talk to me after the race, said it was one of the best races he's had so far with a big smile on his face. I called him a rat bastard.

We're friends now, but I was pissed. I can't imagine what I'd say if you stuck a microphone in the my face at that moment.

My 12 year old likes red Ducatis, so roots for Stoner; BFD. But if you want to look for whiners, look at Motegi.

Every season, someone with an ax to grind starts an "Is X the new Biaggi?" topic.

Here's a further take; my 12-year old son has no real idea who Rossi is, but he's watched Lorenzo for two-plus seasons. My son has seen '300' and knows why Lorenzo wears a spartan-scarlet boot and a hoplite insignia on his x-lite helmet. As I said those other venues are better for 12-year olds.
Agreed,Rossi has won more races and shown more class in doing so,Lorenzo does the goofy after race antics trying to copy Rossi and it ends up looking lame at best.
Rossi is an elder statesman and has just broken a leg with the bones sticking out on the track and come back and run respectably because he loves to race. Lorenzo is a fast kid no doubt, not many if any have or will have a run like Rossi and done more for drawing attention to the sport.
Running at their pace with broken or bent body parts is tricky but they all do it. Comments taken out of context are easy to come by.

Kid.. he's not a kid. You want to see a kid that you can respect? Watch the last 125GP race. Marquez is a tremendous rider at 17.

Rossi will have a hard time next year. We'll see if he starts whining and making excuses then.

Yes he has complained this year more, which typically is not the way he rolls. I think he is just frustrated. He has a long way to go before he reaches Biaggi's level of whining.

There will be no next Biaggi until some weird lopsided facial hair is involved.
In all honesty I don't remember him being a whiner as such more "it could always be better" even after winning a world championship .
John Kozinski on the other hand...................

I think they should have a lottery and pick one of us Fearless ADV'ers and plop em on a Moto-Gp bike, see how it works out at Catalunya.
Pretty easy to second guess from the keyboard.

I started this thread in the manner of pub banter, no 'axe' to grind at all. Like I said, I sit down to watch the racing with my son and we sip soft drinks and throw cookies at each other.

Well, he is the consummate Rossi fan. Are you sure he has a wife?

Oh, I guess I am supposed to add these days, not that there is anything wrong with that.
