Talking Bump

With all this ice and snow on the East Coast, this picture from Labrador doesn't make me want to go riding at all......

Really, no desire at all to go tearing down that road at 60 mph to get down to the shore of that lake.....

That part of the road's been finished. It's all loose gravel now.

I firmed up departure dates with the wife this weekend. I'm leaving Toronto Sunday August 28th. Solo so far... if anyone else is thinking of taking a run at it around that time, let me know.

A quick question for veteran Trans-Labbers:

How much of a hinderance is not knowing French? I can read it a bit, but I cannot speak or understand it.

AUGH...do what I normally do when a french speaking person doesn't understand English.....remind them who won that deciding battle to whom would take control of the colony....lol plus most french speaking people usually can speak better English than you think.
Seriously.....you shouldn't have an issue....most non urban french people have no issues and will help all they can without attitude. So I have found. They treat you as politely as you treat them as most people would. Just stay out of the cities......lol Can you tell I have issues...??? LOL

Going to work on adding some new stuff...

Well I think I have most of the details on the hard stuff has been worked out, like gas and ferries. So now maybe I will just fill in some more interesting stuff like places to sleep and a few sights to see.

Dorito is working on some offroad trails in Newfoundland so that should be interesting. Some of it will be the old railroad lines but their seems that a few of the bridges have washed away so hopefully we can work out a decent trail or just get good at water crossings. Either way I don't think the adventure will end after leaving Labrador.

As usual just check up front for all the information, I haven't found the limits of how much information can be added to a single post but I am trying.

If you haven't read the linked ride reports on the first page please do so their is a lot of good information, experience, and insight which will hopefully save us TLH virgins from making as many mistakes.

Here's a ride report from when we rode it last year in August and it rained almost the entire time.

Will USA cell phones work in these parts of Canada? I know it's an ignorant question, but I have not traveled in Canada since before I became a cell phone user (and I was late to that game).
