Dave and Carolyn do the NUTS 2up

My wife and I decided that a nice long ride was needed before this nice weather we're having ends. After close consideration we picked the NUTS or better known as the Northern Utah Trail System. The loop I came up with is around 200 miles of 50/50 dirt and street. The start of our route was Ant Flats Road and the middle point is Bear Lake. Neither of us knew what to expect as far as conditions go, not to mention were riding a 19 year old Klr650.

Our Route

Our Crusty Steed

The trail conditions under 7000ft were really good, not too dusty or wet..

After 7000ft we fought through a little mud-ice-snow.. Was a little slick but manageable two up

The altitude dropped back down and we were hauling ass again..

On this hard pack we were making good time. This is the last Bit of Johnson Valley.

Nice Long stretch of pavement boring, but a welcome chance to strech the legs.

Almost to Bear Lake

Wow, the lake is really blue today

Historical marker at the Bear Lake rest area.

Time to stop for Lunch

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza

Back on th road, had to drive on HWY 89 for a little while till we found the Right Hand Canyon

Nice road, only a little pea gravel.

Big trail intersection, East to Hardware Ranch- West to Logan Peak- South to Left Hand Canyon.

Rutted and rough, this road is always shitty-it only gets worse.. Almost lost it and my wife in the mud ruts a little after this pic was taken.

Left Hand Canyon, the road was pretty nice for a while, last year I had the Wr500 out here and I managed to eat shit on an Ice Patch and broke both my levers and bent the foot brake lever..

Nice slippery ass mud, 1 up no big deal, 2 up= work..

Sleepy Hollow

Black Smith Fork 101 clean pavement

Back on dirt again. Avon to Liberty

We made it to Liberty last bit o dirt, now its pavement all the way home.

Fantastic ride! Wish I could have gotten more pics that WEREN'T blurry . . . but photography at high speed (and big bumps) is a bit difficult.

I'm looking forward to our next adventure . . .

Sweet ride. And thanks for the insight on the pizza! I've blown past that place a few times, but never stopped. Next time I will!

Nice ride, great pics

Love that route, but R & L hand forks can get tricky and rutted. 2 up is some work, be proud

I rode up there late last year and the conditions were bad to say the least. we made the big Left hand loop and my arms were killing me, trying to keep it out of the ruts.
