Cry My Christmas Present

I Just couldn't resist showing off my Christmas present to myself. Picked it up today, but as you can see from the background it will be a while before I can take it out for a ride.

And all of the family bikes. I hate to see the KLR go. It has been a great bike for Alaska over the last four years. On the bright side, I was able to find it a good home.

So far only minor modifications to the standard 2005 model. KTM top case and crash bars, Corbin seat, heated grips and an accessory plug. Now I only have to wait for 3 1/2 months to be able to get it on the road . If there are any other 950 riders in AK who are part of the group here, I'd love to hear from you. Merry Christmas all.

You're going to like that ride, north. There are a couple other 950's around but I only have met one of them; Tim McKittrick. Xlnt guy to go for a ride with.

I'll be looking forward to catching up w/ you this spring and have a question for you... how'd you score a test ride?

Btw, be SURE you pencil in the D2D (the thread Fighter pointed to). Xlnt run.

I've been away for a while and just checked back to the thread. I'm new to the group so I don't know anyone from the list. I've been in Anchorage for most of my 45 years and may have seen some of you passing in and out of The Motorcycle Shop. I've been riding the KLR in the last picture from my post for the last four years around the state.

The D2D thread is pretty long and I haven't made it through it yet. Is there someone in particular to talk to about going on the run this Summer? I made the run up to Dawson on my own a couple of years ago on the KLR and was thinking of doing the D2D this Summer. I'm also considering continuing in to Inuvik. Anyone else thinking of heading that far north?

I also must appologize for some of the goofiness of my original post. I must have lost track of which forum I was in when I posted it. I thought I posted that to the Orange Crush forum. Guess I need to pay more attention.

Legion, I got the test ride at a I90 Motorsports in Issiquah. This was before I knew there was a 950 available in Anchorage. I was passing through on the way back home from a business trip and the folks at I90 had an 04 model they offered test rides on. Thirty minutes later I was sold. When I got home a friend told me that Don at the Motorcycle Shop had one on the floor. I ran down and scooped it up the next day.

Thanks for the welcome, hope to see some of you on the roads this Summer.

Just as I suspected-there are no "free" test rides on a nine-fiddy. Eventually, the test ride will cost you a sum roughly equal to the purchase price of your own nine-fiddy. I rode Legions and now I am sooooo screwed....thanks a lot Buddy!!!!
