Wicked New guy and his DR200

Hey guys and (girls)?, I see your kind of weird around here, so not sure if women actually come around here.... But anyways.

My name is Jimmy and I'm from the communist state of NY ..... yay me!

Bought a dr200 about a month ago for my very first bike, literally have been wanting a bike since forever. Here I am almost 25 and finally talked my wife into letting me buy one, problem is I had to act fast before she changed her mind so I just jumped on the first bike I saw at the local dealer.

I really like the bike, but I know I'm going to want a more powerful bike in the future.

So what would be a better choice as far as power and the ability to modify?

Also as far as modding goes, I have some questions for the experts or anyone who could give me some info.

Changing out the tail end, lights front and back, handle bars, maybe the muffler and adding guards on the handle bars.

Thanks!

Welcome to the asylum, from the other side of the world.

Cant help you with your questions though except to say, spend some time on the 200, take other bikes for test rides and spend some time reading through the different threads on different bikes. A lot of it will come down to the type of riding you want to do.

It is a big communith

Howdy,

ADV Rider is a big community.

You can't meet everyone.

But the good news is the DR200 thread has maybe the most mature and friendly posters.

I will be in New York next month and some of Oct.
I will let you know when the trip planning thread comes out.
Maybe we can link up.

Don't mod anything!

Buy a new bike when the time is right.

Hi.

Give folks time to respond Jimmy .There is already a DR200 thread with ton's of info there ! . The DR200 is a very capable machine and get's great MPG . If your already thinking of a bigger bike ,I wouldn't modify anything incase it would become a deal breaker to a prospective buyer . Ride the bike for awhile and really get to know it's abilities and shortcomings....if any , to you .

Welcome .

Thank you guys for your replys!

In all actuality, I probably won't be getting another bike for I'm going to guess 5 or more years.... So at this point modding something on the bike to make it better for me is fine with me. I've got 2 kids, so most of my money goes towards them and what they like to do.

We're glad you joined too. Next time wait more than an hour and 12 minutes before getting your knickers in a bunch. I hope your wife gave you permission to buy some decent riding duds too. If not, spend some money there first.
