New Year Day SO Cal DS ride
If anybody wants to join in this is an invite.
In the past they have been long full days of all types of riding. From rough loose rocky, 1.5 track, 4wd, deep sandy rarely ridden stuff to smooth asphalt freeways. 150 mile range needed, thumpers or darn good twin riders advised. Tall windshields not recommended. Start early end late. Will meet somewhere between Stu's in Riverside and San Diego where I am staying at Mom's. Meet place to be arrange, stay tuned. Esteban / KLR 650 |

sounds good, I still need to coordinate with CA Stu My temp number in SD dwtn is below, in the past we have met in the Temecula area to start the day. I think Stu had some ideas of where to go. My Preference is to stay south of El Cajon Pass / Riverside areas.

A New Years Day DS ride in SoCal does not seem too popular judging by the response.. Personally for me, a Colorado winter escapee, it is just what the doctor ordered. I will put up the meeting place tonight in case anybody in the 28,000,000 person SoCal metro area wants to join in.

Is this a rain or shine deal? Is the ride going to end up in the same place?

The weather is saying partly cloudy tomorrow. I'm planning on going to the meeting place unless the road washes out. Then depending on how hard, wet scarey the riding is, I'll ride or turn back...

I'm just trying to decide if I want to ride to Temecula or truck it down. I have the low gearing on and the knobbies are a little sketchy on the freeway. It's over a two hour ride for me to get to Temecula.

I spent the day at 3800', on the W side of Cuyamaca Peak, 20 feet up in the air, on a rickety old ladder, in the heavy drizzle, in the mud, without the proper tools, without all the needed parts, installing an electric service, bolting the riser to the power pole. The weather absoulutely sucked !!!
I am back in downtown San Diego at the moment (New Year's Eve 8 PM) and the skies are totally clear and the stars are out. I am looking forward to tomorrows DS ride. See you there rain or shine (unless pouring rain). I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Steve |
