remiss

Sorry to be so tardy with a reply. I knew I had posted somewhere but neglected to subscribe.

There actually are a few good roads on SSI, the longest being a figure-eight on asphalt starting in Fulford or Vesuvius with the crossover in Ganges. Cowgirl already mentioned Mt. Maxwell and there are some good viewpoints off Isabella Pt. Rd. up Mt. Bruce or Mt. Tuam.

A lot of the potential fun has been removed by property owners gating or posting what had been or could be 2-track connectors between the roads.

If I lived elsewhere I think it would be worth a weekend especially if you avoid the clusterf**k that is Ganges on a summer Saturday. Shoot me a PM if you decide to come over.

Thanks for your RR's. I'm looking forward to doing some of your rides in the Shawnigan Lake and north to south. Bamfield is a neat place to see and I got to love gravel (if not the timber worker traffic) on that trip. I'm on 90/10 Tourances so that limits me a bit.

Howard

Impromptue dualsport ride tomorrow? 11:30 am, meet @ Shell by Goldstream (Westshore Parkway). 50-50 tires recommended.

Any takers?

Hi all!

I've actually had an account here at ADV for a long time, and have read some cool stories here, but I'm just now coming out of the shadows to post and say hi. I run a local forum myself, so often don't have a lot of time to check out other sites, however, I see that there are a few names here that I recognize from there, so I'm thinking I'm in good company.

I do a lot of riding here on the island: street, dirt, supermoto, etc. I just like motorcycles. Actually, I really do love off-road riding. I've been racing in the VIHSS (Hare Scramble series) for the past couple years. Lots of single-track.

Right now my KTM 400 is all set up for dirt riding, because I did a trip to Baja for the Baja 1000 (and no, I didn't race it!). It's usually set up for supermoto, so while I've got the knobbies on it, I'd love to get some more dualsport rides in this year. Now that I've had a little taste of desert riding, I'd like to do it again, but I'm also content with exploring our island more too. (The bike just isn't plated currently, I'll probably do that in the new year)

Anyway, that's me... Cheers!

Sounds like we'd be a good match! Heck, if you've been doing hare scrambles, you're probably a better rider than I! There's lots out there to explore, lets get out sometime, before the snows come!

So is this the new hangout - DSBC for VI is a ghost town.

If anyone cares I am going out Saturday to Refrew to start putting in a route that connects the backside of Renfrew to the very west end of JR Main, over the san juan ridge. If you know where Gain Creek is, then you know where I am talking about.

Its just an exploratory ride, so no work. You have to enjoy dirt, rain, mud and lots of whippers. Not sure if I'll bring the 350 race bike or the 690. It's going to be old roads anyways.

Send me a PM if you are interested.
