AZ winter camping with Kids?
Can anyone suggest a good spot to haul a pop-up camper and my kids for the weekend? Not looking for developed campground, somewhere scenic in mid/lower elevations I can tow a small camper to?
Thanks! Rick |

Oak flats East of Superior on US 60. Has a little elevation to it but no means high country. I am thinking 3-4k elevation but that is making the gray matter recall stuff it didn't know was there.

Painted Rocks campground about 15 miles west of Gila Bend has developed and undeveloped sites, away from the crowds, places to ride etc.

Our kind ain't welcome there, but --
For camping with the trailer and the kids and the bicycles, McDowell Mtn Park is absolutely lovely.... [north of Fountain Hills, hardly outside the cities] |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just might try McDowell MTN park for a shakedown over nighter with the kids and the new camper.
I'm looking forward to boondocking it with the bikes in comfort. |

We wound up cmaping off Houston Mesa north of Payson. Overnight temps in the high 30's and it rained all night and the following day. Furnace quit working in the middle of the night, but we had winter sleeping bags.
Need to plan a multi-day camp with the bikes next! |
