There is much truth in your post. The reality behind the curtain vs. folk's expectations and behavior vs. what is required to 'make it happen' is a glaring reality that few really comprehend.

In one sense it's all my fault, in that I 'convinced' Poolside to actually follow thru with all of this. And since most have no experience with the man behind the avatar, very few have any idea how much leg pulling, arm twisting, and cajoling was involved in convincing him to take on this whole ball of wax.

This truly is a labor of love and a unique opportunity for the whole ADV GS community.

Well, that is one of the possible explanations. But the big money is on "their cheese has slipped off their crackers" or , as more technically stated in the DSM4, they are "bug-eating nuts".

Have faith, folks. I do and I'm usually pretty skeptical.

Not too many folks would, I don't think, for fear of all the critics, sidewalk lawyers (and possible real ones), stone throwers and just plain trolls. I probably would have given up long ago with a nice "F.U and see ya later."

Good luck to you on this and a pat on the back for doing it. I didn't buy one, but I am watching and very interested in how it works out.

+1000 to that one. Completely Agee with that.

Can't you buy some piece of software from the internet via payola and speed your mac up? There is a vendor thread in G-spot related to this new fangled but widely unavailable quick fix.

Gotta link?

JJ
ps speaking of my saga of getting my mac up and running again...
1. My old PowerTower dies. Diagnosis, motherboard failure.
2. Win bid on replacement PowerTower. It dies before it can be shipped to me.
3. Win bid on better replacement PowerTower. It shows up today, dead.
4. Replacement to the replacement to the replacement to the original PowerTower to be shipped out Monday.

It must be cosmic rays or we are entering a void in space that is killer on G5 Macs, or something...

Thanks for the reassurance, and thanks for the non-sarcastic reply.

Heck no we're not there yet, dangit! And nobody wants us there more than me! Well, maybe with the exception of JJ, who cajoles me about the project at least 5 times a week! That's such a friendly sounding word in'nit? Cajole. This is what it really looks like...

8 of the panels below were sent out Friday for drilling and plating. That's enough for 1700+ IICE Airs. (That was one of the unexpected 'benefits' of having a problem with the original one-stop PCB house we were using.)

The drilling process immediately came to a flying stop over the location of the 0,0 origin in the CAD instructions. The drill house now has a new set of CAD instructions with their preferred 0,0 origin.

Yesterday I ran into a problem with the etch and soldermask vendor regarding the photoplots (film transparencies of the board layers). The issue relates to what the words 'positive image' and 'negative image' mean. :-) So today I ordered new plots for a couple of the layers.

The photoplot vendor pointed out the problem when I was there picking up the films. He says, "Did you say you're using such-and-such vendor for etching and soldermask? Why yes I did. "Well he reverses the terms 'positive' and 'negative' on two of the layers."

Looks like we'll have completed boards by Monday afternoon. This is fun!

Could this mean more availability than the original orders?

*fingers crossed*
