Last time I was up there the road was well closed just past Joe Elliot Tree. Looked to be permanent.
I don't expect it to be opened across to Sapphire ever again.

Based on this mountain bike report it is hard to believe this will ever open again... Too bad.

Yep gotta love the bulldozer gods

BUT
when that road was first cut there were no houses below it

just guessing
but now that there are a bunch of houses below that trail
it might be too risky to start sending ginormous boulders tumbling down the hill

I've ridden across it several times and also took a Jeep Cherokee across a couple times in the mid/late '90s, back when Scouts West had adopted it. Always was a loose rocky chattery SOB, but the views were fantastic on a clear day. Winter after the fires was when everything was washed away.

We even rode up 1N36 a few times before houses obscured the bottom end of that one. That was a fun challenging single track.

For years i've eyeballed another abandoned grade above Day Creek. The switchbacks became very visible after the fires. I know where the top end connects with 1N34 and i've found where the bottom end used to come out, but the access is totally washed away. I'm pretty sure that one has been impassably overgrown for a very long time anyhow.

Hey everybody

Late notice, but... Anybody want to ride tomorrow (mon 12/5)?

Need to use up some vacation days so i'll be taking every monday off this month.
Also tired of wrenching on bikes and need to go for a ride.

Probly the usual... late breakfast / early lunch at Summit Inn, then keep riding as long as I feel like.

Flexible on start time. A little later is fine 'cause its in the morning.

I wish I can take some days off as well. But I cant. Miss to ride with you though.

January 8th is my 1st anniversary of loosing my dirt virginity. So I was hoping to have a get together with the same crew at the same place.
Rider914, airbornedad and dirtdadx from Saturday Jan 8th and Rider914, Sito, Dunerat, Ben99r1 and M1Jeep from Sunday Jan 9th.
All you can drink beers are on me (except dunerat of course, I cant effort him ) if your name is on the list. But everyone else is welcome...
I know there is an other month until the day but if you can join me I'll be one happy nOOb.

Date: January 8th Sunday, 2012
Place: McDonald's at 138 & 15
Route: Cleghorn to 138, Summit In, other side of 15 where there is a big climb that is calling me (only place so far I tried and could'nt ride my bike ), then if we have time some desert and deep sand, etc...
Please check pages 19-22 for pics and actual ride reports from last year.
