The 450's got bib mouses that hate long paved rides. 5 miles no problem. 20 miles no bueno. I heard there was quite a lot of pavement to get to various rides, so I thought the 690E would be the smartest choice. if the mouses weren't such a bitch to remove, I'd do it in a heartbeat. What do you think?

690 is probably one of the best bikes for DV. You can do almost everything on it without going extreme. Again, this is your first time so bring 690, ride around and once you know what you like, you can come back with the bike of your choice. If you feel comfortable on a big bike, you can do ALOT in Death Valley with a GS. I wouldn't go there with anything but my 990. Not only because I dont have anything else but it makes me push my limits and learn.

I am looking at the first couple of pages in this thread and wondering where that is located. Seems to maybe be off the 15 maybe near cleghorn, but still looks low enough in elevation to be under the snow line. Looking to do a small sunday ride this weekend and going up to lake arrowhead is to snowwwwwy.

Re: pups

From a friend on Facebook: "I heard a story from a friend on Facebook about 3 pups. I believe your pups are at Perry's Place. They have a Facebook page Perry's Place were they posted pictures."

I went there and it looks like them.

Most all of this thread is in the Cajon Pass and surrounding areas.
Lytle Creek, Baldy Mesa, Hi-Dez from Phelan to Lucerne Valley, San Bernardino Mtns, etc.

Also just got off the phone with Sherry at PP... Sounds like my "Asha" is the last one left.
I'll go up this weekend sometime to make a donation and say hi if she hasn't already found a home.

I don't play on facebook... Could someone send Sherry a link to the ride report or the puppy pics in my smugmug gallery?

Range is going to be your issue. I loved DV on the 690 but you got to carry fuel!

donate to Perry's Place via PO Box or calling....

PO Box 2353
Apple Valley, CA 92307

the owners name is Rumi.

it's great these beautiful pups are finding homes quickly but these shelters survive on donations.
