I'm interested in a big bike route through Big Bear.

When would you be going?

I would like to go too but on a DRZ400. I'm looking for the easiest way into big bear on all dirt road starting from Miller Canyon OHV. At least that's where I've been riding lately.

Awe shux. We already did it on Sunday morning afternoon. I didn't see any takers, so me and my boy just rode 2N49 (Bailey Canyon Rd) which starts off Palm Ave north of I-215. Took it all the way to SR-138. Then 138 to 173 and back into the mountains starting on Pilot rock (I think that's the name). But we ended up in the residential area instead of Pinnacles staging area....AGAIN ;( Don't know where I keep missing the turn off. But, there are others on this page that know this area like the back of their hand. I'm still newb status for nav. But keep posting, I'm on vacation and have been doing as much riding with my boy before he moves next month.

I'd be in for Sunday behind Big Bear and or Miller. KTM 690, black diamond OK.

Nice to see some new faces in this thread

I'm sure i'll run into you guys at some point... but not this weekend

My parents are going up to Troy Meadows on wednesday, staying for about a week. I'm gonna zoom up there friday after work, get in a couple rides with dad saturday and sunday morning, then head home sunday afternoon. I will likely ride the 950 up and back, but dad will have my 525 up there for the trails.

Anybody interested in tagging along?

I am good for Sunday and big bear sounds great. Can take the 525 and ride the goat trails or the GSA for a big bike cruise ... either way

I don't have my GPS yet so I would need to be following someone. Holding out for the new Garmin Monterra.

GPS isn't really needed up there. Most of the trails/roads are clearly marked and are either N/S, E/W or loops. The US Forrest Service map online will show you the major trails for the whole San Bernardino Forest.

Cool. I have a bunch of topos loaded onto my phone so as long as I get a GPS signal, I can find my way around. No bar mount though. Wouldn't want to meet up with a few other riders, everyone looking at each other to choose a route. I'm following

I plan to be at the Miller Cyn OHV staging area at 8:30 Sunday 21st. If it's possible to get to Big Bear from there (in the dirt), that's my goal. Probably grab lunch in Big Bear then head back down to Miller Cyn more or less the same way. No bar mount so my navigating will be clunky. If anyone else will be there, knows the area or has real GPS, you lead.

Sunday July 21 Miller OHV-Big Bear - Miller

I have no idea if these roads are accessible/open or what they look like. From google satellite view it looks like mostly maintained fire roads. Looks like there is a bunch of different ways to get to Big Bear. This is what I'll try to do unless someone else shows up with actual knowledge of the area.

Click the 3D button. Gotta love google.

I'll be riding the area, introduction to Cleghorn for a friend. We'll be meeting at McDOnald's around 9:30-10:00am. Anyone is welcome to join us.

Didn't see anyone at the trail head at 8:30 so Tom and I did the ride ourselves. Probably 50 miles of dirt with a few trials sections. Knarly and steep enough sections to warrant walking them first. Skid plate worked!

Thinking to do a short night ride tonight.
Rolling from casa914 ~7pm. Probly home before midnight.
Somewhat fast ride up to Lake Gregory for late dinner (Toni's?)
Some dirt on the way up, more dirt on the way down.
Let me know if interested.
