Should we start a new thread for converting the stock subframe into a fuel tank? I think lots of people would be interested and the info is getting spread a bit thin across all the forums.

Secondly, who is using a case guard and which one? The Husaberg Hard Parts 81232975044 one would be easiest to get here, but I am wondering if it will fit with a 15t countersprocket and the Sigutech clutch slave cylinder.

Believe it or not, the 690 uses the exact same fuel pump and injector as our 70° Husabergs!! The newer ones seem to hold up well on either, but I am carrying a spare of each for sure.

i'm running the enduro engineering one, not tried it with the sigutech yet but its already had a chunk taken out of it or broken off, i'll try and get some pics later. i went with the ee one as it doesnt enclose the front sprocket at all so hopefully clears dirt out faster

You may remember a few months ago i was looking at moving my headlight/mask forward to give a bit more room for my hdb computer protector and fuzeblock. At the time LukasM showed us a prototype relocation kit from Paul at HDB, and since then i have been in communication with Paul about this.



However Paul has abandoned the version that Lukas showed us in favour of a more generic solution that he can use for his rally lite fairing and the more common KTM headlight/mask ( i wont steal LukasM thunder about the rally lite fairing ;) )

Anyway whilst discussing with Paul i realised that the kit Paul had made up wouldnt work with most of the bergs as it was based on moving the locating pins forward for the headlight/mask to mount on, this is for the later 570s which have the ktm mask/light combination that doesnt use a fender brace. For the fender brace version the headlight doesnt use the fender locator pins but a tab on the fender brace which also acts as the point for the headlight adjuster.

Now it may be that the only thing i need to do is to tilt the top of the mask forward but i think i will need to move the whole fender brace forward as well to get the space i want. Anyway i think this can be done with a "simple" plate that bolts to the top of the triple clamp (where the brace fits currently) rather than under the triple clamp and fancy bending, and provide some holes to mount the fender brace further forward (plus some locator pegs and a new hole in the fender for the front of the brace (but thats another story). Paul is kindly donating to me some bits from the abandoned kit he was making, to help me start on this and a local friend Gabe from Zen Overland who preps RTW bikes has said he can help me out with the metalwork. The question is is anyone else interested in a kit if i can get something made up? we're looking at a couple of months plus by the time the bits get to me from Paul and Gabe and i work something out. If you are can you pm me rather than filling up the thread and then Gabe can work out a rough cost based on numbers, i cant see that many being interested but i thought i'd ask

this is the EE one but i've checked and it wont fit the sigutech without some machining, do you think the sig unit needs it ?

My friend installed an EE guard. It wont fit a 15T, but a small amount of grinding on the aluminum arm allowed the 15T to clear just fine.

It is a great idea. It changes how we'll need to get fuel in and out of the bladder, esp needing to drain fuel from bottom to use, but it does eliminate many other issues.

what kind of bladder are you planning on using? Most dedicated fuel bladders I have used, while in the military, are very thick. By the time you stuffed it all in there.. and lost all the space to the wild corners and nooks and crannies I wouldnt think there would be much room left for fuel. I like the idea of using POR15 to coat and seal the inside of the OEM subframe.. but I am not sure that POR 15 or other normal gas tank coatings will stick to plastic tanks?? I know Red-Kote wont.

I have that guard.

'cept I have the Rekluse adjustable slave on my 570, which is considerably cheaper than the Sigutech. However, you do have to drill a hole through the assembly pictured in order to have access to the adjustment bolt on the clutch slave.

I got the Rekluse one because I have the Rekluse Core EXP on my 570. Together they work a charm. Mounting it up was easy and it is super easy to adjust. Now, if/when I need to adjust the Rekluse clutch, all I need is a 4mm Allen wrench and I can do it trail side. Easy-peasy.

i like the ee one i have above, less blingy and nowhere for the crud to trap behind the front sprocket, but wont fit if you have the sigutech. i thought mine had broken but looking at it properly it was how it was made. The one downside of it is that there is a little spacer between the metal blade and the clutch slave which is easy to lose when you take the cover/clutch slave off

I have a 2011 FE 390 and lately the low fuel warning light is now showing up. Can anyone explain where to check the connection for this ?

The sensor is in the main fuel tank, pretty close to the fuel pump, right at the back. The wires come out of the back of the tank. There's a diamond-shaped "plate" at the back of the tank that can be mounted one of two ways (depending on how much of a warning you want the reserve light to give you).
