Keep 'em comin'. I just never get tired of looking at pix of the RS. IMHO, the best lookin' bike BMW ever made.

I got to ride mine to work today. We're having an unusually mild December this year. Last year we were up to our a$$es in snow from Nov. to Mar.

One of my best memories on mine was a couple of years ago coming home from Death Valley in Feb over a 4000' pass in Calif. The snow was coming down pretty hard but not sticking. I had on my Gerbings jacket liner and tucked in behind that wonderful fairing I was as warm as toast, just grinning from ear to ear. Got over the pass and descended into Nevada for lunch and a hot cup of coffee. Best fairing ever.

Is it just me, or is the R100RS one of the best all round and best looking bikes of all time? I saw a bloke riding up the hiway on one last weekend, and thought, man that sure looks great on the road. BTW it was the same colour as mine!

Thumb

...ditto Lornce, that's one complete RS statement.

Really I never noticed the Lava color much. Not realy a red or even red-smoke kinda guy. But it's almost a candy apple with a purplish/blue smoke. I figured I'd paint one the way I want some day, but this one's paint is too nice.

...but I digress the thread, let's see some udders!

That is a good looking paint job Rapid Dog. As a matter of fact there are several really great looking paint jobs on this thread, I assume most of 'em original. Wish I could say the same about mine (see the first page of this thread, post #11). The PO was not kind to this bike having laid it down at least once on each side. I've still got a couple of minor mechanical things to sort out then I'm goin for a repaint. I'll most likely go w/ original color.

Here's (or was) mine ... I still have her and she's on the road ... but a completely different beast these days. Even though the faring looks tolerable here ... it was badly damaged. Very sad. But you know ... that engine screams

That's a good question.

The ones with the 40mm exhaust up to ???'79, or the '84 year, last year of the twin shock with upgrades from the pre '81 era, or the monolever with 18" better front end, tidier electrics, but less hp.

Personally, a monolever, with a 1984 engine/trans and a three quarter seat would do me!

Cool2 My newly rebuilt RS on the road

Think I finally figured out how to do this
This is my newly rebuilt RS at Echo Lake, CO on a recent ride with the local club.

How does she run you ask? Like a rebuilt RS should!!! She is happiest above the posted speed limit on most interstates!
