A couple of weeks ago we rode Saline Valley, South to North. 90 miles of gravel, for the most part pretty good riding. Leaving the hardtop and starting North on Saline Valley Road the signs say "Road Closed". Just ride around the signs and enjoy the trip.

This has to be a joke, right?

I was in DV/Panamint a few days ago. Everybody and their mother was riding/driving on Saline Valley Road. While I was in the DV visitor center, I asked a ranger if there were any backcountry road closures, and she said the only one was Saline Valley/South Pass. And she said this with a straight face !

Saline valley road used to be a great adventure back in the day.
A really out of the way place.

Last time I saw a guy in a Mercedes out there, and German tourist in rental cars.

Still one of my most favorite places in the world.
