Klim Dakar

I do like the fact that I can get the Mojave's in 40' Tall. I'm 6'4", and I hate it when my riding pants ride up my boots.
Dakar and Mojave's both rock

Get the Mojave. I have two pair and they are great. I simply wear long underwear in the winter. Wet is another matter. I have another pair (not Klim) for wet riding but I dont really like them or riding in cold wet weather.

Good Luck.

I ordered the Mojave's, is it weird that I'm excited about my first piece of Klim gear?

I have an ARC Back Country Jacket, and I am very happy with it. I'll probably order the pants too once it starts getting colder again.

I've been wanting to try the jacket based the quality of the pants, but I'm not sure I need a 9th riding jacket

PhiSig, you prolly did your homework but if not, be aware that hard knee guards/braces etc under the pants will be required with all but the top-o-the-line Klim stuff. The 'armor' that ships with the Mojaves wouldn't make a decent mouse pad

Thanks for the heads up, yeah, I wear a set of hard armor shin/knee guards I picked up from CG for like $10. They're not perfect but they get the job done. I busted my ass without them and caught a handlebar in the shin on one of my first rides. I don't ever ride without them now.

The jacket is great, I like it a lot. I wore it on a ride in the show and it kept me dry and pretty warm. It fits well over armor too. I'm really happy with it.

Come to think about it, I wore it to a club in Baja because it was a lot colder then I was expecting and it worked pretty good for that too.

I tried out the Mojave's on a ride through Charouleau Gap a week or so ago, they're great. My only qualm is that I wish the had hand pockets on them. I think it's weird that all they have are the cargo's. That, and I plan on taking them to a tailor and adding some beltloops.

exactly my take on them after a first wearing-- the velcro waist tabs are a joke. Waist tabs and buckles like on BDU pants would work better. I might give suspenders a day in court too

I wonder if that FF wears Klim pants too? If he does we'll never find him-- he'll blend right in

I hate buying cars, motorcycles are so much more fun. I'm thinking out loud, feel free to ignore me. So here's the story:

My Great Uncle passed away. He was a retired AAC/AF vet, flew over the hump in CBI and towed gliders on D-Day. He lived in Ohio, and decided he needed a 4x4 for snowy days, so back in 2001 he bought a S10, extended cab, with a 4.3 V6, 4x4, and a camper shell/cap. He drove it very infrequently and took good care of it. Yearly check up at the dealer, washed regularly to prevent rust, etc. It has 13,000 miles on it, and my Great Aunt offered to sell it to me, cheap, but we haven't discussed a price, likely in the $3,500 to $4k range. (She is well provided for and doesn't need the money)

My uncle wants to upgrade his personal vehicle. He owns his own excavation company (which my grandfather founded with a shovel and a pickup truck in the 60's) and lives on 100 acres in Southern Ohio. He has a workshop and equipment yard behind his house. His commute is a walk from the back door to the shop. He has an '01 F-350, quad cab, long bed, non-dually with the legendary 7.3L diesel. It has just under 100k miles. He offered to sell it to me (and only me) because he wants a 6.7L. He's probably going to ask in the $10k range, maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

I don't know which one to buy. My current ruck needs replacing, and I would like something bigger and more capable, which the S10 isn't. I want another camper/toyhauler, I can't pull one with an S10. I would also like something I could drive for the next 10-15 years, which I could likely do with either truck. (I don't drive much, I usually commute on the bike). I can't buy the S10 without keeping it, or at least keeping it in the family. Buying it and flipping it would be a soul damaging thing for me to do, I had a lot of love and respect for both my Great Uncle and Aunt. I don't want my uncle to get impatient and sell the 7.3L to someone else. He bought it new, and has taken excellent care of it, it would be a great truck. If I buy both, I wouldn't be able to buy a new bike for another year or two because of the hit my savings would take. Plus the S10 doesn't get good enough mileage for it to be my 4-wheel DD. I don't know what to do.
