So much for my first ride of the year
I cut through a neighborhood that was icy, went down, and lost the shifter. No injuries. You guys be careful, still some ice in the corners.

Home, but

went down a block before the house, two patches of icy slush, the secong got me, no damage to me, some slight road rash on the fat girl, the left bag and bottom of fork, don't think I twigged anything but will have to take a test spin when the roads are Clear...Nice ride Ethan, I think I got a little cocky after riding in it today. I take it your OK Injun.

New Years Day Ride 2011

Hi All,

First, Glad Jason and Tom are alright. We were wondering about you Jason, waited till 9:45. There are certainly some slick spots still out there. Beckett Road was the worst of our travels, thankfully no spills on the run. We did loose the Black GS somewhere early on. (Name starts with a D I think, wish I wasn't so bad with names.) I'm not sure what happened, please check in and let us know you are alright.

For you sharp-eyed observers, yeah - that's a wooden/metal fairing on my KLR.... Testing the new windscreen height and angle (Compare to TWK's stock setup infront). Bit too much turbulence as it is so I'll have to make some changes.

Here's a few shots from the starting point at the Sandbrige Market:

Here we are making the group HR Tag-o-Rama grab.

And here we are at our destination (which is also where I'll leave the tag):

Good to see the Upstates -Here's to no more wrist injuries for the group - Okay?

Thanks for joining me on the ride, Glad you all enjoyed it.
I liked the 2hr format and the weather couldn't have been any better.

Hope you all have a very good 2011.

TW

Great ride guys, I've never ridden on snow and ice before, glad we didn't have any downs during the ride. Sorry to hear about the others who tasted the ice up close.

Here's a few of my pics.

Ahhhh like Jan 1, 2012?

A ride like this is pretty simple. Pick a day, schedule, post a route, and ride.

I'd like to eventually have regular rides set up, maybe 1 or 2 a month, No one can make them all, but a regualr schedule would allow many to make a few.

I'm headed back to D.C. to continue my studies, not much room for anything else until I'm done. Graduation is July & I'll know where my new job is sometime in March.

That was HeadShrinker (JJ). He peeled off somewhere around the 58 section of the ride. He waved goodbye. So all good.

It was great meeting you guys today. Sorry to hear about two of you going down, but glad to hear only bikes and egos are hurt.

I was looking forward to the BBQ. Turns out the the shifter stud that comes out of the case broke in half. If I can't weld it then I'm going to have to crack the case open Good thing though, I'm uninjured, just soreness in the wrist and shoulder. I put the bike in 2nd gear and made it back home.

First, I am glad tommyhof and screamin' are OK.

I really enjoyed today's ride and social affair. It was good to catch up with some of you fine folks.

Until today, I had never ridden a motorcycle behind a snow plow truck that was actually plowing snow....

At first the plow wasn't actually doing much, but then it actually started throwing snow and I realized "We are definitely on the WRONG road!" Sure glad we were all able to pick a good line through the ice.

Glad you're ok injun, sucks about your bike. I don't think you have to split your cases to make the repair. You should be able to just remove the clutch side cover, take the clutch apart and remove the basket, and the shaft should pull out from that side.
