Yup. Taking the Abductor instead of the RV. Faster, better mileage, and restrooms and restaurants are right there. Rooms in the Ski Village are just too much money, and I really don't want to stay 15 miles away in Taos. Parking lot camping.

Are the sections up the hill again on Roger's land? Erin and I are coming up but I gotta get a room for us.

Well after a 51 hour trip Garrett and I am home. Round 3 and 4 Of the Mountain West Vintage{ITSA} held at Turkey Rock,Howard Co. Great quality sections. (Most left over from the youth national the week before!} 10 sections 3 loops both days. Two of them were Expert only each day. Nice loop, an extra hard loop for the expert only sections thrown in just to give you your moneys worth.
I won modern twinshock expert both days. First day 2pts,one clean loop. (Same rock got me) Second day 10 pts with 1 clean loop. Had one of my dumbest 5`s ever. Group scoring, first rider thru so had my clean, grapped a handful turned back down the trail to score and ran right over the far exit gate sitting on the trail!! Just amazing good weekend. Good weather, great turnout 30+, Good food (saturday night cookout!) Good company. My bike stayed together.(Just finished the rebuild wednesday night) Garrett learned alot from the good quality turns in every section. Next one is in Dolores Co. in two weeks!

Chris, I talked to Rodney Gibson tonight. He is setting on the limited and restricted property around Roger's place at 10,000 feet. Brian B is setting Sunday's lower and Rodney thought Brian was planning to use Rodney's sections from Saturday morning backwards, I hope not. The village area is open for a trials and me thinks Sunday morning sections there would be awesome. Limited camping up at Rogers place, he said maybe 5 RV's. We will be in the parking lot in the village camping and observing shenanigans. Could be some kids riding bicycles as well. Way to go sand bagger Bob. Quote:
It will be good to see ya out and about Chris. Back on subject. Road my XR to Cedro Peak today and buzzed around. Later rode the Gas Gas around the neighborhood for about an hour, trying to remember how to ride trials. Uh, I am very rusty.

No sand baggin` here. I was second overall saturday{by a point} and seventh sunday. The boys in the historic expert class had a tight battle. Daniels and Mike Shaey tied with another 1 point day on sunday. Mike easily won the ride off section. Al Duke had 6 pts both days riding an over powered TL250 `he` could barely start.
The sections were spot on for our class, we just had alot of good riders. We had several large rock climbs and a few scary downs considering our lack of brakes. Besides my single 5, most of my points were from a lack of power on the little cota. Got caught a couple times with the revs just too low at 7000 plus elevation. Garrett was second both days riding the same line with 35 saturday and 34 sunday. His best was a 4 point loop. His comment was NMTA never has this many turns! Great weekend of learning for him. The event was run like a good national.(besides the group scoring) Cards turned in every loop. I rode with Big Al Duke, Mike Shaey, John Clements(the guy with the great running tl125 that was at roswell) and myself. We had a blast! lineaway screwed with this post 07-30-2012 at 11:10 AM |

Your still a sand bagger. May be number 12 on the roster but #1 in my heart. Morning sections for NMTA with turns, gitoutofhere. Beating Al Duke is a dang good ride anywhere on any machine. Big Al Duke rides really well for being so big an ugly.

Thanks for the info, Tony. We're trying to decide now if we're gonna try and come up Friday night, or stop over at the in-laws' farm at Los Luceros and then do the early-morning bleary-eye drive Saturday. Erin arrives back Friday noon from a week-long trip to FL to visit her uncle, aunt, and cousin. She kinda wants some home time, but it'll be minimal.
Saw your pics of you and McClanahan. Looks awesome.

+1. Beating Big Al is an accomplishment. Al could compete in Expert with a SuperGlide and would still be difficult to beat! ![]() Congrats, Bob. Try not to completely annihilate me for the rest of the season!
