Do I infer correctly that you'll be at D2D? I will be there (doG willing & the creek don't rise).

if the creek had risen much farther the last couple days...

i was on the WR, but i think the V649 could have crossed this route, although it would have been a handful. roads extremely rough due to rains, creeks running high and fast.

(photo courtesy of WayneJ, and he met misfortune crossing one of these the next day)

as far as D2D, i might swing by, but briefly. i'll be on the run.

thanks for the route info. i was away from my maps until i got home, now i can look things over in more detail. i've been on some of those roads for sure. i do need to stay on pavement (mostly), street tires and time factors not in my favor as i scoot north.

There aren't that many paved North South routes through Montana, I imagine you've seen a number of them.

Really, ALL the north south roads in Montana? Hwy 7 through Baker, 191 through Malta?

You have really bad luck with the Cassier. Hopefully it will go better.

well, i was moving so fast that some of those road signs were a blur.

cassier closed, campbell a mess, canol closed, dempster closed. road repairs at washed out culverts on the alcan, and with that much rain in the area, the TOW usually goes out too.

hope it dries out, i'm running out of roads.

Where do you find those road closures? Is there a website?

BC and YT road conditions accessed through their respective DOT sites, same with Alaska for the washout susceptible Alaska side of the TOW.

http://www.511yukon.ca/

http://www.drivebc.ca/

Cassier flooding photos here. riders who have been on this road previously would know where this is.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=891399

the road is reported to be open one lane now.

it's very important for riders to keep track of the road conditions up there, especially when on some kind of schedule. if available at all, the backtrack ride-arounds can be LONG.
