this is a 2007 model year bike, would be a good start if a thorough inspection didn't show anything major, such as a bent frame. like any other purchase, the buyer must know what's there (and what isn't)...and the price has to be right.

if i was in the market, i'd check it out.

nuggets, thanks for bringing it in.

I would have to ask "Is the owner still around to sell it?"

Greetings from the Coal Mine Campground, on the Yukon river, north of Whitehorse.

Thanks

I've had this bike for probably 10 yrs. She's been good to me, mostly, and is a blast to ride, as most people know. They've got more than enough stones, I weigh 245 and she'll still lift the front end.

I think I'll keep her, just go a MUCH different direction than the cafe guys, there are too many of them around, and I'm not one that likes a one trick pony, I want more than just a street bike, and with a bit of work she'll do the job quite well.

It looks like the xr650l forks will work, of course the HONDA dealer has NO CLUE! Go figure, too far outside the factory box.

Now to find , or have modified, my swingarm for a monoshock and about 3" more travel. That should put it in range of the 8" of suspension I want.

I think she'll be black,black,and...BLACK!

Now I need to start putting my ideas to paper, or evernote, so I can do a build thread, don't expect miracles, I still have one in college!

Thanks for the info yokesman, it'll go to good use, already in my favorites.

getting ready to drop off the bike tomorrow, miles should end at close to 5000, or 500 miles/day of cross country riding, try it some time. ain't easy, but if you want to see the world, that's how you do it.

i ran the bike much like i run my own, hard, but no abuse. this bike even ran about 400 miles of gravel along the way, including some riding where i picked my way through in first gear, all on worn out street tires (the bike gets new shoes in Anchorage).

the bike has not missed a beat, and i don't see a drop of oil use. Mobile 1, in 15/50 was loaded for this trip, the same oil i use in my bike. i prefer this weight oil for these trips where temps ranged from 32 to 100.
