now i understand how these bikes get to 400# so easily. the motor weighs about the same as the equivalent volume of concrete. it's a handful moving that thing around.

i decided to back up for a minute, clean up the harness and components, and get everything back in position before the motor gets mounted. there's all kinds of tight spots to make connections and it's easier to start without the motor in the way.
![]() ![]() other than the routing, there shouldn't be a problem making up the connections, every single one is different. |

i was able to round up a helper for a few minutes, so i changed direction again and stuck the motor in. much easier with an extra hand.
![]() i'm not sure if it's the short wheel base or what, but these rat bikes start looking like snorty little SOBs, big chunk of motor wrapped in a little bit of tube...but i like it! jdrocks screwed with this post 01-11-2011 at 03:29 PM |

time to try a new shock, so i picked up a shock from a 2008 R1. this is a fully adjustable reservoir style shock, the right length, and can be found really cheap. the bushing sleeves need to be bored to 12mm, and it needs a heavier spring, but still very inexpensive for a semi custom shock. i'm looking for a spring with a 16kg/mm winding, same as the spring on the Versys shock.
