that method does not work well with these long extensions, too much weight out on the end, the OEM spring has a tough time holding it in the retracted position.

almost. if you take the trouble to smooth the welded joints, the extension isn't quite so noticeable.

new KLR side stand mounted on the rat...

a couple of additional notes-

if you get the KLR sidestand, get the KLR spring also. the KLR spring is shorter than the Versys/ER6 spring and does a good job holding this longer side stand in the up position.

i always ziptie the side stand spring to the side stand so it can't be lost if something hits or snags it.

remember, when removing or installing the side stand, don't try to remove or install the spring by itself. instead, remove or install the stand and spring at the same time. save yourself some aggravation, you won't mess up the spring either.

for reference, the KLR side stand for this bike was extended 85mm. you still need to check your own setup.

That's the truth. My KTM 640 wheel arrived yesterday, or so I heard. My brother called and said "your cannon all-in-one printer arrived" Since I didn't order a cannon printer, I can only assume it is the last piece of my bike puzzle. Sadly it snowed this weekend, causing my power to be lost and me to not really be able to work on the ninja build. I changed the tires on the vstrom which was more important since I needed to ride it 70 miles the next day.

I'm guessing that is a clip type, clip fell off, chain snapped and broken some stuff? Good guess?
