The Joshua Tree

I rode by these unusual trees the other day and decided to get a couple of photos as I went by. I guess these trees, from the Yucca family, grow only in the Mohave desert to a height of up to 40' and a diameter up to 3'. There's a Yucca Moth that pollinates these trees and each depends on one another for survival through this process. Some of these trees flower in the spring, but not every one. They mostly grow in groves with many others of various shapes and sizes.

I just noticed where you're from....I have lots of friends from your area who spend their winters here in AZ.

Thanks again.

Pacific Coast Ride

Hi,

On page one I mentioned my plans to ride in the Pacific Coast Ride (PCH) this coming Sept. It goes from Eureka down to San Clemente over a six day period. It's main purpose is for those who own the PC800 bikes to gather and ride down the coast, where these bikes were named after.

If anyone else who owns one of these bikes and would like to join in this ride, let me know. I plan to ride from the Phoenix area up #395 as far as Susanville and then cut over to Eureka.

Thanks, Gary

You will have a blast on your PCH trip. The roads between 395 and the PCH (and the N/W in general) could entice you to be a "Lost Dutchman" for many moons. Please post a link on this report when you start the other thread, I'd like to follow that one too.

Cheers

Blooming Ocotillo

Other names are Jacob's Staff, Candlewood, Coachwhip, Slimewood, and Flaming Sword. Grows up to 15 ft. high and nearly as much in width. The Ocotillo is pollinated by Hummingbirds and blooms from March to June depending on moisture. Although most articles that I read say that the flower is a "bright red", they always look more like an orange/red color to me. Anyway, I noticed that the Saguaro's are beginning to bloom now too but I didn't get a photo on my last ride the other day, thinking that they'll be bloomed out a little more in a few days? Until then....

Lake Superior Ride

Another fellow rider and I are planning on taking a ride around Lake Superior beginning June 12th. Hopefully I'll get enough photos to make it worthwhile to attempt another ride report. I don't know if I should just add it on to this one or start a new one? Any suggestions about that? (I've only done just this one and am "un-good" at this stuff.)

Thanks for your help.

Gary

Changing the title?

I wonder if anyone knows how to change or add on to the title of this R/R? We'll be leaving on our Lake Superior ride a week from tomorrow and I would like to add it to this R/R. I'm not sure how to do this? Help please?

Thanks much,

Gary

Thanks, the trip went fine with good weather most of the way. Total miles was just under 2,000 over six days. I'm sorting through the photos now, trying to decide if there's enough good ones here to make up another RR?

Went over the top of Lake Superior a couple years back. Got caught up in a cold front at Thunder Bay about the 1st of October. 28F in the morning.
Be waiting for your pics and report.

Yikes! That sounds a bit cool....but I'd think that the fall colors were somewhere around the peak about then weren't they? I'm still sorting my photos and trying to come up with enough good ones to make another RR worthwhile. It's not looking real promising at the moment??

I've decided to try a few of my Lake Superior photos so a short RR of sorts will begin on page 8. This isn't going to be anything too great though, so I'm warning you now. (I'll use the photo that was here on the next page then.)
