Roanoke Beemer Dealer

With the demise of Crossroads (Hammersleys) Motorcycle division (in Lynchburg), central and southwest Virginia are now without a dealer. The nice folks, and real moto enthusiasts at Frontline Honda-Triumph in Christiansburg, VA were actively trying to take on the BMW line, and they planned to build a brand new facility just off I-81 in Christiansburg to house all 3 brands. But, as I understand it, BMW Motorad NA is adamant that a new BMW dealer needs to be in Roanoke, and have turned down Frontline's application. BMW Motorad NA must be making plans with someone else to open up a dealership in Roanoke, but I have no idea who or where.
I had sent an email to Gary Busch, the "Dealer developement Mgr" at BMWNA in support of Frontline's intentions, and got a prompt reply thanking me for my input and stating that there will be a new dealership in Roanoke by spring 2011. If anyone has a clue as to who in Roanoke might be under consideration for this new dealership, I'd like to know who it is.

I don't have any inside information, but I will be watching for any anouncements. I love my Uly, but always curious about those bmw's and the possibility of a dealer with a little adventure gear.

There are a lot of multi brand dealerships that carry BMW also. Battleys in Rockville, MD carries BMW, Harley, Triumph, and I think some Japanese lines as well. Many others. It is pretty hard to sustain a BMW only dealership these days. It will be especially tough in the Roanoke and South-west Virginia market.

Laugh Coming Soon

I just saw the signs for the new Roanoke BMW and Triumph dealer "coming soon". Construction is currently underway on the west corner of 419 and Roanoke Blvd.

I am hoping for a big "grand opening" complete with giveaways and test rides.

Anyone know when they plan to open or other details?

From the Roanoke Times, looks like it was dated 7/11. Maybe this is old news, but I am excited.

Salem is getting a BMW motorcycle dealership. Frontline Eurosports will open on Electric Road by December. They’ll also sell Vespa scooters and Triumph motorcycles.

The dealership is going in the old gas station at the corner of Electric and Roanoke Boulevard. The building is currently under construction to expand what will be the showroom and add a service station in the back.

I am too busy chugging the Uly koolaid to consider buying a BMW from a dealer, so I haven't really dealt with any dealership sales staff since I test rode the Uly in 2006. But I am excited to have another dealership option to check out "what's new" and maybe try a test ride if possible. I would also hope they would carry some Adventure accessories.

I bought a new Triumph from Frontline in Christiansburg a few months ago. I have had good experiences with the sales and service people there and would definately buy another bike from them.

I ended up not buying from them but talked with them a bunch. They are friendly and very helpful.

Frontline Eurosports, Salem, Virginia

Hey, it finally happened! West-central Virginia has a new BMW, Vespa , and Triumph dealership, and I heard a rumor (from the Honda-Yamaha-Suzuki dealer) that they may be getting Ducati soon as well:

http://www.frontlineeurosports.com/default.asp

Grand Opening April 20 and 21, 2012.

I live in Lexington, about 60 miles away, but my office is in Roanoke about five miles from the place. I just found out this week that they are open now and I haven't had a chance to stop in and check it out. Anyone visited yet?

Very cool - this is the closest I've ever lived to an actual BMW dealer . When I lived in Wyoming it was 360 miles to Salt Lake City or about 350 miles to Fort Collins, Colorado. There was also a dealer in Missoula, Montana and one in Sturgis, South Dakota but they were even farther. This is great!

Sweet! I'm pleased to see that they are well-stocked. My last visit to Hammersley's in Lynchburg was pretty disappointing. They had a tremendous selection of cars and car stuff, but the bike part of the shop was obviously being closed down. We were going to ride down to Frontline today but it is pouring rain here right now, so maybe next weekend. I'm excited to see their gear selection; I need a new mesh jacket and I'd like my wife to try on some jackets so she can find one she'll like well enough to wear it .
