I can't decide if that's a crime or a thing of beauty - the lust I feel for it tells me that it's probably a bit of both. My ST had 2050 miles on it a year and a half ago. Now it's edging toward 20k. Can't undo that I guess.

Puke Me too!

I have a 1988 R100GS blue & white. I fell in love with it when I saw the magazine ad "This year 500 rugged individualists will own a bike that's both rugged and individual." Bought it new fall of '88, and other than moving the original front fender to the high position and changing the valve covers to the rounded aluminum ones, it is still stock.

First Bike... First Trip... COMMITTED

My brother and I were finally able to get away from the desks to go for a ride up HWY 36 to Humboldt from Chico via BMW's.

I am more than happy with the bike, and blown away by the amount of information and help offered by this forum and other sources. You could say that I am COMMITTED. I think of myself as the End User of this bike... it was made in the factory and found its way to me.

We hope to go on many more trips, but I think I will stay on the road for a bit while I warm up to street riding and get a chance to look at that final drive. I've got plenty of fire roads and swimming holes to keep me occupied in Chico while I plan that BIG trip up North or South....

Thanks for all of your posts guys, you keep me entertained and informed throughout the week.

And how many years in a coma? And in surgery? Twenty of the twentynine?

All seriousness aside, it's looking good, Solo!

Nice... That looks like a 140 rear tire. Doesn't it foul the swingarm? Or maybe a shim was added?

Looks like a 1990.

Never seen the sparkplug cable routed like that. That looks like a Fox rear shock?

Otherwise looks almost totally unmolested. Great bike!

Yup its a fox shock and a 140 tire. The tire grazes the spring ever so slightly but it won't be on there to long as I plan to get some more appropriate dual sport tires. I don't like the seat so if anyone haas any suggestions please let me know. I would like to find the original style so I could use the bike two up riding on occasion.

I'm suprised. The wider tire normally fouls the swingarm first rather than the spring. Yeah, the 130 tire would be 'more appropriate'.

Stage, looks like the ignition cables are too long, thus the routing. The slack could be easily tucked-in under the tank with some zip-ties.
