this has got to be worth a medium sized grin i hope? :)

(lots of front tire locking between successful attempts - just wasn't committing to enough weight transfer to get it in the air at higher speeds - brakes are a little sensitive on the servos to modulate them well and risk the results)

I've rolled rubber off the sides of Anakee 2's before, and chased some track-junkies around on cloverleafs before and ran them down, but i don't think i've been THIS low before...

So the question is...

What came first?
The Cylinder or the PEG?

Nice Pic!

Nice Pic!
That time? Peg.

There was this other time, at band camp, where I went into that very corner and, well, you see that red curb at the bottom of the photo? It's raised up. You're supposed to put your knee on it. I put the cylinder head on it. Spit me off fast! I slid across the track, picked up the bike with the help the marshal, rode back to the pits, cleaned out the dirt, and did the entire rest of the session. Tough old pig, the GS. Rode it yesterday for a long mental health day. It's got 113K on it now, and pulls harder than ever.

The front end of a R1200GS DOES NOT compress when maximum braking.

love that shot Quasimoto! very nice!

and i think that was Jimmex's joke... the front end doesn't really compress, which is what makes it really hard to get the necessary weight transfer to roll a better stoppie... it just wants to skid. Kinda makes me wonder if a little bit of dive on the brakes wouldn't be a good thing.... sure, it might take away a little stopping power from the rear, but it'll also help press the front into the pavement and give it extended traction during braking, and prevent the ABS from kicking in so quickly (!) or allow more aggressive braking with the ABS off.

BUT... this is a picture thread. I'll leave that discussion for another day.

BTW, the front end is on the highest preload setting there is i think. I had it set there to run in sand on the way back from the Overland Expo - we did a lot of sand roads / river beds on the way back fully loaded. Not exactly a walk in the park on those anakee 2's, but I made it.
