Question about the tollway...

So I had to run out to Aurora for my immigration biometrics. I jumped on the Tollway over here in broomfield and took it out and around jumping off in Aurora.

I received TWO bills in the mail.

One for $4.30 from the "Northwest Parkway LLC"
and another for
$6.80 from "License Plate Toll Statement" as "E-470 Toll Transaction".

Really? When you jump on the tollway it is actually two tollways by two companies that bill separately? Does this sound right? WTF can't this be done as one bill?
The legislators that are selling our roads to private companies should be tarred and feathered.

We are pathetic sheep.

Answered my own question - on their FAQ:

The Northwest Parkway and E470 are two entirely separate toll roads, joined together at I-25, north of Denver.

Wow.

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

What will be your preferred route from Boulder to Denver when it goes full toll (again)?

I love the E-470 toll road. I commute from C Springs to DIA at least twice a month.
The toll road allows me to bypass most of the BS that is Denver traffic.
I gladly pay the small fee to bypass bumper to bumper traffic, angry and incompetent drivers, and smoothly travel to my home or airport without any fuss. Travel in and around Chicago if you want to bitch about toll roads.
Then you would get a bit more sympathy. Between the politicians skimming funds and having to stop every 5 miles to drop 1.10, that place really sucks.

It was 25 miles from where I got on to where I got off.
Round trip was almost $25.

I dunno about you but I'd rather pay $1.10 every 5 miles.

Fuel is going to become the cheap part of driving if they keep selling our roads for profit.

You know...if you are on 2 wheels and you stay waaaayyyy to the right on some parts of the tollway, I heard that you may not get a bill from them. DAMHIK

So you got 4 bills? Two for $4.30 and two for $6.80 for a total due of $22.20?

This. I grew up in Chicago and as such, tolls are a part of life. The beauty about E-470 is that it is the only toll road, so there is no traffic. In Chicago, every interstate is a toll road, so you get the pleasure of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic and still pay tolls! Back in the day before transponders, there would be hours that the fastest you would get going is racing from the toll booth gate to the 20 yards to the bumper of the stopped cars in front of you. I love E-470, I take it to the airport way more than I wish I had to, 3-5 times a month, but it is way worth it, especially when needing to get to the airport from the north. I can leave my driveway in Nunn and be parked on the roof of the parking garage, hoof it to TSA precheck and be at my gate within an hour and a half. Not too shabby and traffic is never a concern taking the toll road so I can cut it that close consistently and not have an issue missing my flight.

Pretty much the same for me from Castle Rock. Except this last part, the flippin parking ramp being full has screwed up my "consistency" more than once.

The deal is the tollway section west of 25 is different from the rest of E470.
That's the NW bill.

Once you crossed 25 heading east you were on the E470 billing.
Overall some overpriced private roads and thus why extremely low traffic.
You also paid the highest tag-capture rate vrs the Express Toll window-sensor lower rate. I'm sure with Express Toll you still see 2 separate line item bills for each section.

I use only E470 to get to and from DIA (from 25) for work and with an Express Toll. It's not free, but alot faster, so worth it. They charge you $25 to start, give you a window sticker and your balance goes down every time you pass under a tool booth. Once your balance hits a certain low # it auto rebills with another $25 of credit. Your balance never expires. If you call in and sign up they will switch your bills over to the lower rate and you'll have a balance from the $25 paid. Otherwise I have ZERO interest using those paid roads.

I'm sure that will be the last time you ever do that as i'd bet 36 > 270 > 70 > 225 might be even faster and is free.

You did know going in that it was gonna be $$$ to take that road right? It's not like this is new news and there was a huge thread on it here in Rockies regional about the high price.

I don't feel like cattle or sheep....

It's an expensive option and one I don't use often - but I'm glad it's there when I WANT to use it.

Chicago is fubar. When they leased the operation to the that German company back in the late 90's doubled the toll fee the next year. Short sighted politicians.
