Make sure you fill out a 4856 for damage to gov't property and put it on my desk.

Hwy 96, Wetmore, west of the town proper. Just in front of the now closed general store. I'm gonna miss that little store.

Yes! The intersection of Hwy 96 and Hwy 67, east of Pueblo.

I saw that sign on the way to Westcliffe and thought of using it as a tag but Rusty Spokes beat me to it.

Well I didn't see it when I was there last week to grab the Wetmore Wildlife viewing area Tag.
I did stop and take this picture last week though and didn't even see the Tough Teat Dairy sign right next to it.

So when I was trolling around CoSprgs today and saw Rusty put the Tag up I found a website reference to the Wetmore dairy being closed in 1995. So I buzzed down there figuring I could find a local and ask then where it was. Does anybody actual live there?? I found one guy who said he had never heard of it and didn't think he'd ever seen the sign. He suggested I ride East towards the cemetery and then north because there used to be a bunch of cattle ranches out that way.

So after about 45 minutes of riding around and up and down both of the streets in town and the cemetery road, and talking to the one person I found in the whole town, I decided to see if the website reference had any more specifics as to the location. I managed to find a cell signal out by the cemetery and the web reference tells me it is west of town on 96?

http://cozine.com/1995-january/reqiu...gh-teat-dairy/"Until ten years ago, George and his father ran the Tough Teat Dairy at this controversial site a few miles west of Wetmore on State Highway 96, which is the only route west into the Wet Mountain Valley, where I live. Hardscrabble Creek and a power line bisect Withers’ seven acres. Upstream and down, cattle wander in and out of the creek, whose name tells the tale of its own life and hard times even before the gold rush."

I had just been out that last week and had not seen it. So off to 96 west and I am rolling by the closed country market and thought maybe it was on Greenwood road, which is the last road in the area that I had not been down. As I pulled off to go down Greenwood road, there it was! Had I not actually been getting of to take that road I think I would have missed it again. Thanks Rusty, great Tag!

The owner/builder of this 1881 home was a stone mason and sheep rancher. I am sure he had to use a hammer and nails though to finish off the interior.

Nice! I love old masonry work. It's sad that it seems to be a lost art. I spent the afternoon laying up stone, but my work is decidedly amateurish compared to that.
