Day 3
The next morning I woke very early due to being still, on EST. I was snug in my Hilleberg Soulo but I could definitely tell it was cold outside. I filled my urine bottle from the comfort and warmth of the Soulo and the Big Agnes.
We break camp and head to Ashton Idaho, right on the intended route, for breakfast. As evidence of our late year gamble on weather. The date is sown above the dinner. ![]() ![]() We are on the west side of Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP. We are headed for Grand Teton and we get there on the Ashton-Flagg Ranch Rd will takes in from the west right between the 2 NP's. ![]() ![]() ![]() My 1st time in Wyoming. I was looking forward to it. ![]() Redcorn as we enter Grand Teton. ![]() ![]() Man, those French women must be big breasted ![]() ![]() ![]() Mike, just loving it. ![]() ![]() ![]() We took a walk to Jenny Lake. Pristine to say the least. ![]() ![]() ![]() By the time we were finished closing our jaws and riding the loop around Grand Teton, it was getting into the afternoon. We decided to head for Union Pass and see what we found for lodging. If nothing we were certain we would fins an excellent primitive camp spot. So off we went. ![]() Right on Union Pass at around 9k feet we find this place. ![]() We rent this whole cabin for $200 ! Its a no brainer. They have food and all. ![]() Every guest camp has a good saloon, no exception here ![]() Dennis ![]() ![]() The owner (guy behind the bar) stated his location was one of the last unrestricted snowmobile havens in WY. Last year however, he almost went broke because of no snow until MAY, losing 300K in the process. In WY, you live or die by the weather and recreation. ![]() ![]() We had a great supper. One of the best steaks we ever had. After the owner of the lodge offered up the Moose ! Mike being away from his girlfriend for 4 days now, cant resist the urge to hump the moose. ![]() Most of these places around here are closed this time of year. It was really cold that night. Low 20's. We were lucky once again. W ere snug as a bug. ![]() We slept sound that night. Not a creature stirred not even a........Wolf ![]() ![]() Tomorrow we continue south again on the CDR, we'll fuel up in Pinedale and the landscape will suddenly change dramatically as we near the Oregon Trail in central Wyoming. Tomorrow night will be one of the most memorable for me as we camp on South pass and the Sweetwater river just like the Pioneers.
