Thumb The last ride of 2010

I had hoped for just one more day sometime in December to get in a last ride for 2010. It came today, December 31st, New Year's Eve. With a balmy 50 degrees and all of the snow melting overnight, I planned a short escape on the motorcycle. My son and his girlfriend are visiting for the holidays, so I asked her if she wanted to take a ride. She said, "Yes." We took a fairly short ride along one of my favorite routes here in the Cincinnati area. It's scenic, not much traffic, and joy to ride along the Little Miami River Valley.

Naomi has done a little motorcycling in the past, but not for quite a while. My son does not ride, but after this, she may pester him a little.

When our ride was complete, I had ridden 13,637 miles in 2010. My goal had been 15,000. I missed it because I backed off on one tour. That would have made the difference and put me over the top. Oh, well, just like watching the Cubs, there's always next year. For 2011 .... 20,000 miles!

When and where was your last ride? How many miles did you do in 2010? Goals for 2011?

Brent

Yeah, Dave. I'm hoping that I get a two-day, back-to-back ride this weekend. Riding on the last day of 2010 and getting the first ride in 2011 out of the way. That's near perfect.

Dave, do you set mileage goals for the year?

Sounds like you had a good year... I managed a trip to Vermont, 4 trips to PA, and one to Colorado... next year, I'm aiming for 20K..

The 2010 vehicle mileage check is official

It's official. The 2010 vehicle mileage check is complete: car -7,635, motorcycle-13,637. For the second year in a row, more motorcycle miles than the car! Bring on 2011!

Of course, this will figure into my 2011 motorcycle miles goal.

Sounds like a nice ride for you yesterday.

I did about 175 mi yesterday. Don't really know my total mileage for 2010, 10,800 on a GSA I bought in April, and probably several thousand between the DR650 for local dual sporting, and the vintage airhead with rallys and shows.
If I can ride more miles in 2011 it would be great. Sometimes have to look at quality over quantity.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.

Happy to see some others made it out yesterday. I got over here in NoKy for about 80 miles or so. Wasn't the weather great? Could hardly believe it, especially with how much snow and cold we have had in December. Only saw 2 other riders out, both on 27 south of Alexandria. It was raining lightly this morning, but I still got out for about 20 miles, just to keep up my New Years Day tradition of riding.

Happy New Years!

Got out here in lower Michigan on 12/31...50+ melted all the snow and it was warm enough to head out for lunch with the boys. I did get a few odd looks, but you take the days when you get them.
