So am I the only one wondering where the other 180 miles went?

Probably.

The loop is always shorter and the terrain is much more difficult.

I am getting old...

Last week I bought a new pair of running shoes. The day after my first 7 miles on the shoes I had a terrible pain in the outside of my right foot. I used the rowing machine the day after and then the following day, the genius that I am went for an 8 mile run (4 miles up the mountain and 4 miles back). My foot hurt but during the run the pain mostly subsided. Lots of ice that night but I've been hobbled ever since. I snuck a 80 mile ride in there and noticed little or no pain while riding. When I'm on the ball of my foot I have almost no pain, but when I'm on my heel I can barely stand. Today I broke out the mountain bike and rode it for an hour. No pain in the foot and I think the blood circulation did my foot well. The pain is less tonight and I hope it's going to start healing now.

Anyone want a pair of size 10.5 Addidas with 15 miles on them?

Also, I'm looking for a spare bike to take with me to baja in case I need some odd part I don't have in my spares and to let frog run around on for a few hours while we are jetting testing and such. I know it is a long shot, but is there anyone between Salt Lake and San Diego that might be nutty enough to loan me their 450x to drag along as a spare?

Oh, and just as a reminder of the craziness of our youth. Here is a picture from 20 years ago when me and my roomate from college were trying to figure out how to get our bikes to the Virginia hare scrambles and enduros. It was a bold idea, but never made it past driving around the neighborhood with two Hondas on the roof.

That's why the military only takes young people in as fighter pilots, craziness subsides with age...

Stickers...

Anyone have a drawer full of these (like me) they are not going to use anytime soon? I could use a few more stickers (any kind will do) to drag with me down south to give to the kids and toss the way of the Federales if needed. Let me know and I'll paypal for shipping.

Phil,
I think you need my stalker Sprinter van for this "Baja" thing... I always wanted an excuse to go down to the race and help out...

Let me know your timetable. I still plan on LAB2V so I need to get back by Thanksgiving.

You had me laughing at my desk. I guess I did look pretty sad. That was racing will going to college at the same time. I ate off of $20/week and the 'fresh' race tires came from behind the local cycle shop. Lots of stories...

This was my first 'camelbak'. 2 liter plus hose from the fish tank store. I dug up a ton of old pictures to add to the book that's just getting finished. It should publish in the next 6 weeks or so. I'll need everyone to buy a copy to pay down my credit card bills.

That's awesome Pilo. I had forgotten about the "Fast Car" bike hauler until you sent the old pics. We could make it work now with all the equipment and knowledge we've acquired. My main worry now and maybe back then, was the back glass. So we could pull the glass, do some sheet metal work, new smaller window, reinforced roof, spray on bed liner and off to the races. I may be looking for a nice used Nova to trade the truck in on .

And just so you know, I still get my knobs for the 400 from the pile behind a local cycle shop. Of course I am not racing and the used "fresh" tires still work great. Back in college I had to choose between food, gas and brakes. If you remember, I normally chose gas. Tires didn't even make the list of possible expenses, so the used "fresh" tires were great. Looking forward to the book.

Phil, PM me your address. I've got a similar stash of stickers and my neighbors are starting to think I'm white trash because I've got them stuck all over the exterior of my garbage can and need to do something else with them. No paypal necessary.

I won't be able to send them until next week.....heading for White Wash tonight with the family for 4 days of riding/camping fun.

Oh, and I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one dumpster diving behind the local dealer for used tires about 20 years ago. Now I'm the guy throwing out those "perfectly good knobbies" for fresh rubber.

NXDB - If I remember correctly, that picture was taken in front of YOUR house since Chris and I kept our race bikes in your basement.

I think the camelbak pic was taken at the Sumter Enduro, 1993?
