I can't remember if I/we did the Sumter Enduro in 1993. I wish I had kept better records back then, but all the enduros tend to run together. I'll be curious to see if I have any info or pics at home.

Thanks for a look inside your life, I'm a husband and a father to and its great to read about all the work/excercise you put in. I love the fact that you get up at stupid O' clock to go riding then just head to work, I wish i could do that!!When reading your story i want to set myself goals to get fitter and ride as many enduro events as i can.
Thanks for the inspiration. Keep it up
Marty

Update

267x

That's my number. Three weeks or so from now I'll be putting it to good use.

- Marty - Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad some are enjoying a little more behind the scenes.

- Training --- I've been training much harder lately. Lots of rowing, bike riding and my foot is finally healed so I've been running a lot again. Every day I've been doing at least an hour or more of high intensity exercise. I've been sore every day which means I'm still making progress. Sore is good...

- YWCA Contributions - If anyone is still interested in donating to the YWCA, do it by Friday. I'm having my graphics printed and to get your name on the bike I need to have everything confirmed by then.

- Pit Shirts - I'm having some pit shirts printed up and I'm going to have a few extras if someone would like one. I have a couple L's and XL's. They are two tone Dickies button downs and will have some logos and a name embroidered. My cost will be about $40-$45 so that would be your cost if anyone wants. About 95% sure they will be done before baja. They will also have a bandito graphic created by a friend of mine that will also be on the bike graphics. They will look pretty cool I think.

Thanks for the update Phil, and great about your foot! My arm is still in recovery, and it reminds me every time I row. It sucks to not be 100%, so I'm glad for you. Now don't screw yourself up again before the race!!!

Spare bike

Phil, did you have any luck finding a spare 450X to take with you?

Pit Shirts getting names today

Heading out at the end of the day to get embroidered. I have one large left. Let me know if anyone wants it with their name on it.

Shirts

Excellent Phil. Mark me down, I should fit into a Large if I keep riding and don't drink too many beers.

Race bike build...

Race bike is coming back apart for the last time to get the final build for baja. Everything went well with the rebuild and the bike is running really strong. I'll be using the bike on the left for the last few weeks of training while I put the race bike back together. Tonight I mounted the Mousse on the wheels and started taking the bike apart. I really don't have too much to do on the race bike except service the front forks and get all of the nuts/bolts torqued to spec and loc-tited. A few odds and ends but nothing major.

17 days and counting!

Phil - I have a bunch of stickers to pitch in too.
Are the nerves setting in yet? I love that amped feeling I get on race morning. Everything else fades away and my total focus is the task at hand.

Miquez - training is going really well except that I can't get much time on the bike. I've been out a little bit but not as much as I would like. The weather out here has turned sour for a while it looks like, so my training loop out west will be a snot fest and the mountains have snow. I'm also mixing everything up with running with weights, rowing, pushups, situps, etc.

My latest routine is 2 mins rowing max output with the C2 on 5, then 20 pushups, 50 situps on a workout ball, 50 back crunches on the same ball, and 30 lat pulls with the rubber bands...all at max speed. Then I repeat it 3 times and finish it off with a 2K row. I can usually crank that out in under 30 minutes but I'm sweating and breathing like a maniac.

No doubt I'm in the best shape of my life, period. Without a goal like this I would've never been so committed.

KZJ - Race morning usually gets me, but like most everyone who races, as soon as the flag drops it's all fun and business. I'm flailing like a madman trying to balance the final prep, training, family and work. It's going to be a fun next couple of weeks. Having a teammate would be nice right about now. Frog's tired of listening to me and all of my prep chatter.
