KLR650 hack?
OK i've been thinking of hacking my '06 KLR650 but I just cannot justify to myself (more importantly to the wife) spending the cost of another motorcycle on the setup.
Does anyone have any less expensive options for me?

I have just under 400 bucks into this if you don't include the suspension upgrades or fork brace. (Would have bought those anyway)
![]() ![]() Note that I did not build the frame/subframe. I bought those off of an inmate (who wishes to remain nameless) who custom made those for an earlier gen KLR and was done with it. I just..."modified" it a bit.

I am new to the forum. I want to do the cargo side car to my 09 KLR. I was wanting to know what type of Sidecar frame Boatmoal had on his KLR, How did you mount the Police seat to your bike? I have the Police seat from my Harley I would like to mount. What do the Fork links do? Any information you could give me will be appreciated.

Go for a leaner sidecar, where the bike still leans over like normal. A fixed sidecar generally requires the fronk forks to be modified to a leading link front end as shown in boatmole's pic as without one the steering can be very heavy. For a leaner sidecar this modification isn't required and the sidecar can quickly and easily be removed to return the bike to solo use.
