Ah, yes.. Mefo comes in the 130/80-17.. not 140/80-17. Blast. No mefo for your kraut-orcycle.

These guys have the Heidenau.. which looks exactly the same as the mefo..

pancake, unfortunately this is our tire :

150/70-17 Temporarily out of stock
I was very tempted to try the 140 but in the end, I couldn't get past the price for a tire that was one size smaller than what is spec'ed in.

Well damn.. I'm no help! That's really nothing out of the ordinary, though.

Maybe this?

i think you guys are a little too worried about the width of the tire being close enough to stock.

I remember on the liter bikes we would get rid of the 190 series stock tire and go to a 180, or even a 160. It would improve handling.

I dont think dropping from a 150 to a 130 is going to kill you're bikes handling.

On the MX bikes we switch sizes all the time. my Trials tire is 4x18" but the knobbies i run are like 4.50 or wider. Bike handles great on either tires if i pick the right one for the application.

Maybe. But it's not as much handling as it is load capacity/tire wear. Some of us are riding bikes that weigh well over 700 lbs, scaring 800 with panniers, accessories, and 9.3 gallons of gas. I don't think a 130 is gonna do it.

I used to run a 180 instead of a 190 on my Ducati Superbikes, too. I liked the way it turned. Sharpened it up a bit. But tire wear from mileage wasn't really a concern. ;)

This bike is different. I want to ride it 700 miles west, ride the 4 corners dirt and gravel for a week, turn around and ride it home. You just can't do that on a TKC.

That being said, a 140 Heidi would have probably been fine.

Tires arrived today. Just need to get the Big Ugly back together, mount the tires, and set about trying my best to destroy them (i.e. ride as I normally do). Will post my impressions and let others ride them and post their impressions, too.

Hey SOG let me know what you think of the Big Blocks. I've read about them but it would be interesting to see what type of milage someone I know gets out of the tires. I may want to put them on my GSA, but I'll wait and see if you survive first.

Houston , we have a problem. How in the hell is that supposed to fit? Plus, nephew #1 put his knee directly on top of the Kenda and attempted to compress it. Nada. Nothing. Installation should be on youtube soon.
