You know that people are going to be asking you questions about these bikes now....you've learned more than many of us have on this one build

Thanks Blake! You know anything about the CRF 450 FCR swap on the XR?? I see a 40mm FCR40 from a CRF450 for sale on ebay for only $200 including cables, throttle and hot start. That seems like a decent deal.

Should I hold out for a FCR41 off a CRF450? Folks want $100 more for the 41 mm. Not much difference in performance from what I've gleaned via TT, etc.

Two good kicks and she lit right off!

Time to jettison the OE Keihin. The choke requires pliers to turn. Sux

I'm ordering this for my b-day! Just need to figure out some jets for the high Oregon Desert

Anyone want a XR's only Mikuni Flatslide? I have one of those too

Awesome! I'll will do a street test run tomorrow, and then it's off to finish out the electrics. Need a new BD DS rocker switch, and might have to get a AC regulator for the second 100W output off the Ricky Stator. The old DS rocker switch is busted, so no lights. Hope to get the electrics sorted soon! I'm so stoked! The XR lives!

Been laying low all week and trying to recover from the XR maddess of the previous week and little sleep Only so much XR fever can be sustained until you drop like a rock

I'm still waking up in the wee hours of the morning after a re-occuring dream where I'm taking the top end apart again and can't quite get the cam chain to get on the drive gear Seriously, this has happened just about every night this week.

The FCR41 Kit from Motorcyclecarbs.com was ordered on Sunday, and doesn't look like it will ship this week Maybe next week?? I hope.

However, I finally received the heated grip kit from Dual Star. A miracle. It took just about a month and a few phone calls (if they bother to answer). Don't buy Dual Star. Go to Symtech. They actually ship quick. I ordered the Symtech heated grips this week because I was convinced the Dual Star's were never going to show. Those should show by Friday.

I had to order a couple of parts for the BD Kit so I could use the Ricky Dual Output stator properly. The OE AC Regulator was long gone, so I picked up a new one from Ricky Stator. Nice folks on the phone and very helpful - only $19 and can handle 250wats.

From BD I needed a new "Dual Sport" Rocker Switch, and they have a cool relay/diode that is used with the AC reg and headlight. The New BD Headlight is pre-wired so I can drop the H4 plug on the old BD kit and use the relay/diode to plug right into the Headlight. It's all slowly starting to make sense I'm a biologist, not an EE.

I'm going to make a BlakeBird style Dash...that's the project this Sunday, and then wire up everything. Wish me luck!
