have a great maiden voyage, BHB... I'm sure you'll be telling us it was well worth the wait.

How easily does it start when it's good and hot and been laying on it's side? Not that that will ever happen... [QUOTE]

I have not touched the FCR since bolting it in. Running the jets it came with (150main/70pilot).

My problem was the coil wire going to the spark plug boot. I took the boot off the coil wire and clipped a 1/8 off for a fresh wire and carefully screwed the boot prong into the coil wire. I'm still using the 16 penny nail instead of the resistor and I'm getting solid spark now. The FCR carb runs sweet out of the box. I'm leaving the jetting alone until I get a run next weekend up at 3-4K feet in Eastern Oregon. Right now it runs great and I live at Sea Level. Can't wait for next weekend's maiden outing!

Will be some chilly "winter" camping, but sunny warm days!

Got the XR registered and insured this week.
Plus what seemed to be days of finding all the camping gear from last summer. This is more of a winter camping outing..it's going to be cold!

Thanks LB! What a great weekend opener on the XR and my first camping trip of 2011!

Arrived in East Fort Rock OHV SE of Bend, OR about sunset on Friday night. Rolled the XR out for a couple of pics before it doesn't look showroom new any more

Next morning on Saturday, I got the XR started up just fine, took a quick spin around the campground and shut her down waiting for our crew to get ready. When I tried starting the XR up again, no go. No spark Okay, better check the wiring again... Found the culprit...the black wire out of the stator to the wire to the coil - a bad (and old) connector. I should have replaced it weeks ago, but it seemed solid...not so. It was half out and causing the off and on spark problem I've seen the past week. Finally tracked down that bug..fixed!

Riding the XR was a hoot! What a great trail bike. Grinning all morning! All I can compare it to is my old 04' DRZ-S. The XR has way more low end torque, awesome power, better throttle response, and scoots when you hit the gas! The overall weight feels lighter than the DRZ and the suspension feels just perfect for rolling through rocks, whoops, water bars, and what ever else we rode through on Sat. Just awesome! Got about 70 miles of trails in Saturday and a bit of forest road. We were back in camp at 8pm just before sunset

Hooked up with Brad21 on Saturday afternoon and he took some great shots on the trails. Thanks Brad! it's been three years since I was last out in Bend riding with Brad. Awesome to be back on the east side on a proper trail bike!!

Love this shot on Trail #40

Next up is another run out at EFR the weekend of May 21st!

I'm throwing a little BBQ this next Saturday for all who have helped out this past 4 months on the build. If you'd like to stop by at our home in Portland for the BBQ, drop me a PM for details.

Nice one mate! Stoked that you finally got it out on the trail!

How did the FCR go?

I I just yanked the shock out of mine tonight, sending it off for a rebuild...

Would love to swing by for a BBQ but it's a bit of a trip

We had a great BBQ last weekend. I was just too busy cooking and gabbing and didn't take any pics We had a good crowd of friends and good food! Even started up the bike one time and it shined on the first kick! Runs nice at sea level

Tonight, I finally received the XPC Racing Custom Seat

I luckily had a second OE seat with this bike purchase and sent the old OE seat in to XPC racing on April 7th. They told me 2.5 weeks but it was close to 4 weeks and just received it tonight. Awesome job by the shop at XPC racing. I requested a standard shape, black suede top, and red vinyl sides. I included a note with my OE seat and asked if they had a "seat cleat" for the tank bolt for this seat if they could install it. To my surprise, the guys at XPC found an old metal cleat and did rivet it to the horn section for the tank bolt. I was blown away by the overall construction, materials, and the follow through with the Seat Cleat

Fresh out of the shipping box

Amazing fit, color, and materials. A+

This seat really makes the XR rebuild finally just about complete!

Getting ready this weekend for another camp/ride to Central Oregon Friday the 19th! East Fort Rock
